So I'm starting a treatment course now of Rifabutin, Zithromax and either Doxy or Mino. I was going to do either 200mg of Mino every other day or 200mg of Doxy every single day. I was wondering, which one gets into cells better and stays longer? I believe my pathogens are in my cells and not in my tissues much as I have no pain whatsoever anywhere in my body and no brain symptoms, so scratch that advantage for Mino.
On testing, my Ehrlichia and Bart antibodies are very high and I have heard that Doxy hits Ehrlichia better than Mino does? I also have asymptomatic Babesia and some other parasites which Doxy would hit better than Mino would? My RBC stains on Fry Labs shows that my RBCs are oval shaped so that could be from parasites...I really think my problem is more of a blood-borne one and not so much a tissue/joint/etc one...
So do you guys think based on my situation i should do the Mino or the Doxy? Thanks!

If you have erlichia, I'd take doxy for a month, then switch if you want to take mino. My LLMD started me with doxy in my first combo for that reason. Usually the doxy dosage for Lyme is 200 mg TWICE daily.
Talk to your doctor about which is better for you.

thanks for the reply. My plan was to start Doxy at 100mg twice per day and then double that dosage after 1 month if I'm not feeling better. I feel like 400mg of Doxy from the get go might be too hard on me? Or will starting at the lower dosage create resistance too fast? I am also taking Zith and Rifabutin.
Also, I don't think I have Lyme. I have no classic lyme symptoms and multiple elispot tests are negative. I believe I was bitten by the Lonestari tick in Texas, which apparently commonly carries Ehrlichia/Bart/Babesia but not Lyme as often.

Texas, the elispot is known for being a terrible test. Is it not? That is what I read everywhere.
I have heard IgeneX is great. And iSpot is the one I got, and it's very sensitive. My theory is that it leads to false positives, but many claim otherwise, so it's hard to say. Regardless, if you get negative on those, welp. Still, worth a shot, no?

Ehrlichia can be very dangerous. Personally, I would want doxy first.
Be sure to take it in the middle of a full meal or your stomach will take a big hit.

mino for bart and brain? NO DOCTOR EVER PUT IT OUT AS A CHOICE OF DRUG TO TAKE.
CLEOCIN, DOXY,BICILLINTHRE A WEEK AND EITHER RIFAMPIN , WHITCH IS TOUGH OR OMNICEF.

TexasBartonella, I've seen a lot of LLMD doctors in the past year. Some say doxy is better, some say mino. The ones near our area say doxy works better here.
I was very recently stressing about this very same decision. It seems like most people start with doxy though.

I just asked my LLMD about this bc I've been on doxy and am sensitive to the sun. He said doxy works better, so I said,ok, I'll deal with the sensitivity to the sun.
If you do go with doxy, watch your sun exposure. Also, are you being treated in TX?

Also, I would definitely ask your doctor about babesia treatment, even if asymptomatic.

My LLMD started me on the higher dosage from the get go and explained he didn't want the infection to be able to hide. He wanted to hit it hard. He had me stop one drug that I could tolerate at lower doses but not higher because of that reason. He thought it was better not to take it than take it at the lower dosage.
Lonestar ticks carry Lyme, too. I got Lyme from a dog tick. They tell us it's just deer ticks, but having been around here for a while, I have learned that's not true.
