My husband just saw this on his leg after camping last week. He's also had random knee joint pain this week, enough to make him take Advil a few times but with no strain or reason for the pain. Does it look suspicious to you? Oh wait, I was gonna post a pic but I don't see how to do that.

What is the recommendation for a new bite? Doxy for 6 week? What dosage? We picked up astralagus yesterday and ordered ledum 1M but I think he needs doxy as well right?

Thanks in advance.

The thing is that this is not just a new bite but an apparent new case. Treatment for a new case is much different than for a new bite.

Doxycycline is never a good idea alone. Single antibiotics can cause chronic lyme to develop.

Something must also be on board to address the way spirochetes go into cystic form from abx. Flagyl addresses the cystic form.

Also, with it being summer and you at likely higher elevation, doxy might not be the best choice if he is out of doors at all.

Minocycline best for summer, it's similar to doxycycline but doxycline has some advantage over some other tick borne infections such as anaplasma.

I'm assuming he has no lyme literate doctor to consult? As some point coinfectoins should be considered but not sure how soon to do that [too soon for tests] unless some symptoms are showing such as babesia symptoms, etc. Antibiotics would not address babesia.

Sorry to hear this, though, and there are some strains of lyme that are easier than others. Let's hope for a quick turn around.

Astralagus is good [as part of a plan] for a new case, for a person new to lyme.

As it seems you don't have access to a LLMD or a doctor who knows what to prescribe, at least until that's settled, I wonder he'd be comfortable going with the Zhang protocol with allicin as a base to a full formula [andrographis is included]?

I would want doxy 200mg twice a day for 6 weeks.

Thanks both of you. It's possible he's a Lyme carrier already as he's my husband and I'm chronic so he may have gotten it from me. However, he's never shown any previous Lyme symptoms so I am treating this like a new infection.

The Lyme docs near me are all booked months in advance so no access to them. Just our family doc.
