Has anyone here tried this? After attending a lecture on how it can help Lyme disease and auto-immune disorders, and also possibly reduce seizures and tinnitus, I decided to give it a try. It is legal in my state, but you have to go to a specialist who understands medical marijuana and then get approved by your state.

So far, I think it seems to be worsening my head symptoms and brain fog [Frown] but it is helping my sleep. I just wish I knew if it was the right thing for me.

I am aware of the various strains and how we all react differently. I know I probably need to experiment until I find the right strain and dosage. This is hard to do on your own without Lyme doc being the prescriber. Scary too.

I would like to hear from anyone else who has had success or otherwise with this. Thanks!

How are you taking it (herb or oils)? It does help with sleep.

I am taking a tincture under the tongue and also have some candy bars that you only need a tiny piece of. It takes a couple of hours for the edible marijuana to take effect and it lasts longer than the other forms. So this is a good choice to use Indica strain (calming) before bed.

I haven't tried either of those forms yet but I want to. I have vaped the herb and oils though. The herb makes me feel better, oils work fast but sometimes make me congested. Vaping it makes me feel more normal, thank god.

For some reason, the vaporizer method made me feel awful! Maybe it just hit my system too quickly. I even felt more anxious and paranoid with it. So I am staying away from vaping even though it could be the strain that did this to me.

That is the thing I like least about using M... There are way too many strains and each person reacts differently to them. Sounds a little like Lyme!

Was it vaping the oils or herbs that made you feel bad? Maybe it was the strain?

I am not sure if it was oils or herbs. The product to use with a vaporizer is sold in a cartridge. I think it may have been that particular strain that caused my reaction.

For some reason, I don't like the feelings I get in my lungs or my body after inhaling the vapors. Perhaps that made me uncomfortable and contributed to me feeling anxious and afraid. I remember when I tried pot in the 70's that is how I felt then too! Maybe I am not a good candidate! LOL.

I think success with this has something to do with how your brain chemistry is set up to begin with. I've read people saying it's a miracle; and other people saying NO BAD ABORT never again.

I can get a card but it's a huge pain to do so I'm on the fence about trying it.

dbpei,

Your reaction to the vape cartridge is likely due to the chemical additives, made much worse by the high heat:

How Safe is Your Vape Pen?

By Jahan Marcu, Ph.D. on July 14, 2015

The Hidden Dangers of Propylene Glycol

Excerpt:

. . . vape pens contain a battery-operated heating mechanism, which at high temperatures can transform

solvents,

flavoring agents, and

various vape oil additives into carcinogens and other dangerous toxins.

Of particular concern: Propylene glycol, a widely used chemical that is mixed with cannabis or hemp oil in many vape pen cartridges.

A syrupy, thinning compound, propylene glycol is also the primary ingredient in a majority of nicotine-infused e-cigarette solutions.

At high temperatures, propylene glycol converts into tiny polymers that can wreak havoc on lung tissue. . . .

Also to consider, as with foods, the full growing, tending, harvesting process. Of course "organic" marijuana likely is better, but there are some chemicals - especially fungicides - that can be used even with organic.

Something has to be done to keep the fungus down with the moist growing environment.

Much has to be considered. Best to know the grower so as to communicate directly with them - or through a trusted vendor.

Wow, that could be Keebler. Thanks for this info!

Jordana, thanks for your input as well. I also believe that it is a great drug/herb for some but not so great for others.

I don't have experience with it, but I have a friend with Lyme and cos who has experience. He was prescribed it for medical use.

At one time, it made him too paranoid. However, as he healed more, it helped him.

I agree with Jordana that it has to do a lot with your own chemistry.

Our son's LLMD recommended looking into this for his pain and other problems caused by Lyme Disease. Medical cannabis is legal in our state, but pain was not one of the conditions on the list which could be treated with it. I think this has changed, however, and will research further to find out.

He suggested we read the book, "Cannabis for Lyme Disease and Related Conditions" by Shelley White (which I am in the process of doing). It is very informative and might be helpful to you.

Yes, there are different delivery methods for administering medical cannabis as well as varying strains of the plant.

Any thoughts on Cannabis Oil? I have heard/read wonders about its curative effects on cancer.

I tried medical marijuana in candy form and it made me feel awful as well. Type of herx? Strain? Dosage?

I know when I take my oxy that I don't get a harsh 'coming down hard just shoot me now' feeling that I did with medical marijuana. And I take 5mg tabs about 3-4 times a month.

" I have heard/read wonders about its curative effects on cancer."

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I know several people who jumped on the MJ bandwagon and definitely DID NOT get the results they were hoping for. (both for Lyme and cancer)

In fact, more adverse problems than the recent articles and propaganda suggests.

Thanks for your thoughts and tips everyone. Hopingandpraying, I will look into Shelly White's book, as maybe it will provide me the help I need. From everything I have read, MM is supposed to be great for pain and nausea. I have read that it can calm the nervous system and reduce seizure activity as well.

I smoked weed the whole time I have been sick- It Helped me A LOT - I also noticed that when I would run out of weed for a week I would get sicker - Happened Every time I ran out-

My LLMD has also sent out a email expressing the Good effects of weed for Lyme -- ABX effect -

Also it can sure help with mood- not sure I would have made it thru this if I did not smoke weed-

FWIW, regarding Judie's note, a good friend mine who had enjoyed marijuana at least 2-7 x week for about 4 decades died at 60, of cancer contracted at about 50 years of age.

The pot did help with pain management yet it was no magic protector to her.

Whoa, Keebler, thank you for the info about the vape pen!

That's too bad about your friend. It's possible she got cancer from something else too though. There are just so many toxins in the environment. I don't know where I got half of mine from.

Groovy, I noticed that it lasts for about week too.

It's all about the cannabinoids. CBD vs THC. They have different effects.
