I'm interested getting some essential oils past my stomach so I need a mechanism to do so.

Does anyone know a good brand of empty enteric coated capsules?

Is putting a couple of drops of essential oil in a capsule and then filling it with coconut oil the same as using an enteric capsule?

Thanks.

I don't know .. but DO be CAREFFUL. There is only one brand I would ingest and even that may not be a good idea.

I use capsules from the health food store for switching out capsules with food colorings .. I don't know how "enteric" they are.

First, be certain that, even if enteric contained, whatever essential oil you have in mind is okay for internal use. Most are not. Those that are have specifics to exactly how much and how to be diluted with however much of a good carrier oil.

And just about any oil will melt even "enteric" capsules. Gelcaps such as what is described below are manufactured with extra heartiness in mind.

Best to buy any medicinal herbal oil as a carefully prepared (ratio thought out) gel encapsulated - such as with Gaia Oil of Oregano gel caps. But that may not actually be an "essential" oil as much as an herb oil that just happens to be strong in its own right.

And, if it happens to be Peppermint oil, you can buy enteric coated capsules / tablets - they may not be gelcaps but can be solid but have special coating to not dissolve until far down the hatch.

Essential oils can burn, severely. So it's really best to not mess with them.

I don't see any way to not get some essential oil on the outside of any capsule you handle and most could melt before they get where you need them to be. Essential oils are best not taken internally.

Some can be found in tincture / liquid form, again with reputable companies such as Gaia, Herb Pharm where they have done the homework on the careful proportions in ratio with other ingredients.

Still, often better to go with good gelcaps.

If you do this and if you find that an enteric capsules can be filled with zero chance of having even a trace of oil on the outside of it & also not melting, I don't think coconut oil would work very well. It's hard to control and contain and turns to thin liquid very fast once it hits the heat of one's mouth.

A good organic castor oil is much thicker and may be more controllable from a dropper. Not sure if that would mix well with whatever you have in mind or contradict in someway but you could research that.

They do not mention "enteric" nature of these - and other concerns still standing. Yet, some of the specifications of these are important, such as being gluten-free, etc.

https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/clear-vegetable-capsules

Clear vegetable capsules are an excellent way to get your daily dose of essential oils. These Plantcaps are all-natural and ideal for those with vegetarian, diabetic, or other restrictive, dietary needs. They are made from pullulan, a safe, watersoluble polysaccharide, which has been used commercially for over twenty-five years, particularly for food and pharmaceutical purposes. Size "00".

Non-GMO

Ideal for oxidation-sensitive ingredients such as essential oils

[?? I would confirm that with additional sources. While this appears to be Young Living website, it also appears to be maybe a blog and it can be hard to tell the qualifications of their claims. I would confirm with others as to if this will suit your needs]

100% Natural

Great for Vegan diets
Preservative free

Gluten & Starch free
Completely Biodegradable

You might contact Brussels for she may know. She's a wealth of knowledge about homeopathics and, maybe, also about essential oils (if I recall correctly).

I also hope others will chime in.
