I'm about to start IV Flagyl. What should I expect besides massive herxing?

Has anyone done IV Flagyl, and what were your experiences with it?

Any info regarding IV Flagyl is helpful.

We're all different...so my experience may be completely different from yours, but I was ok on IV Flagyl. I had a fluey feeling (as usual), but no long meetings with Dr. Herxheimer. Other AB's were a lot tougher, I think.

I was treated with oral Flagyl before I started the IVs so that may have helped. The first oral dose did cause a strong reaction.

Thank you so much, Notti. Do you feel it helped you?

You're welcome, me.

Yes, I think the IV Flagyl helped. It was part of an extensive arsenal of medicines though, so it's hard to say which one did what.

After a couple of weeks the dosage of IVIg was increased on top of that and it was a great success. That really helped tremendously.

I was on IV Flagyl for 4 months. I didn't notice anything except for a funny taste in my mouth while taking it

In my experience, it is the flagyl combined with an antibiotic that kills the spirochete form that knocks out lyme. It cannot evade two such antibiotics.

Such a combo gave me my first herx. It was 4 days of feeling bad and 3 more of feeling half bad.

I was on oral flagyl. It was my first experience with flagyl. Then, I remained on flagyl for another 30 days while I took Levaquin for bart. I believe that was to kill anymore lyme that was still in cyst form. So, I was on flagyl for 60 days straight.

I never noticed anything that second 30 days.

So, combos are what are effective. The correct combos. With one med being a cyst buster like flagyl or Tindamax.

Well I had a very serious allergic reaction once I started taking Clindamycin back in July and I had my picc line pulled. The 4 months that I was taking it though, I didn't notice any improvement in my health

TF-Thanks for the detailed info, as always. I'm on a bunch of stuff, so hopefully it will help.

HW88, I just got there bags today, so today will be my first treatment with it. Feeling excited and not excited.

AndyR--Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you had a reaction to clindamycin.

Hey, ole blue. My PMs are working again!!! I'm okayish. Let me know how you're doing-k? Been praying for you and your dad!

Regarding flagyl, has it made anyone angry? Not Lyme rage or outwardly mean, but edgier and more internal angry thoughts?

Read carefully the discussion of flagyl side effects on p. 15 of Burrascano including this quote:

"Flagyl can be irritative to the nervous system- in the short term, it may cause irritability,...."

That's exactly what you are describing.

Hopefully, since he says "in the short term" it means that you may get rid of this side effect shortly.

If you get nerve pain or anything related to nerves (neuropathy, etc), call your doctor ASAP.

Good luck!

Daily, 2 grams. Would you consider a sinus infection gains?

No, no gains yet, blue. [Frown]

That makes me even more blue ...did you try xylatol nose spray...?

No, blue! I refuse for you to be bluer! Nice, happy smiles. Sinus infection is clearing up. Can't tell much w the flagyl, but the sinus infection could have something to do with it?!
