For the last month or so I've been having worse and worse head pressure and even pain.

I think it's either babesia or bartonella (been upping the buhner herbs for bartonella, but one of those is sida acuta, which is for babs too).

Sometimes these work:

(1) decongestant - helps a bit with the pressure, doesn't help pain

(2) benadryl - helps a bit with the pain and the pressure, but doesn't completely get rid of it, and leaves me feeling a bit loopy.

BUT they don't work really well, and I am often curled up in pain, ready to vomit, and with no other solutions.

The pain is actually bearable if the pressure weren't so bad. Does anyone have any solutions for head pressure that would help this issue?

Is this a herx or a flare? Does anyone have any solutions for this? Thanks.

When I first treated lyme and co I had awful headaches as you describe.

I'm so sorry-I know how awful they are.

Ice packs helped a lot! And, for me, treating bart made them go away

Hang in there

Do you have sinus pressure?

Do you have a floaty feeling in your sometimes? The best way I can describe it is like my head felt like it was bobbing up and down in water, along with pressure and sometimes scalp tenderness.

Have you started/changes to new meds or increased meds? Or gotten off of/decreased meds recently?

I have the type of head pressure that me describes, with a lot of tingling, sizzling and burning in my sinuses and face (sometimes skull too). My eyes and ears are also affected and my tinnitus in both ears increases as the head pressure increases.

This has worsened for me since starting malarone, which makes me wonder if babesia is a player. I have never tested positive for babesiosis, but I have read there are several strains.

I do test positive for brucellosis and borellia miyamotoi. I don't know if they are causing these symptoms or not. I am going to add some new ABX to the mix soon and perhaps that will help us to figure things out. I have been using Beyond Balance (MCCH and MCPZ) and Byron White (ABIO and AV) herbs for a long time, but they are not getting me well [Frown] .

Consider babs or proto. I see from your name you like paleo. Paleo diets feed proto and give head aches, head, eye and sinus pressure and pain, fatigue, etc. You might check out the symptoms (there are more). If not that, babs.

Yes, it feels like sinus pressure. But also general head pressure on the front of my head.

I sometimes have that floaty feeling, but not recently, so maybe that's different for me? Could still be Babs though for sure, as I have that.

Catgirl--I actually don't do a paleo diet, the paleo in my name refers to my former career as a paleoclimate scientist...I've always loved the study of past climates, but now that people think it's related to diet I might have to change it.

Is there a way to know if it's proto vs. Babs vs. Bart? Or maybe just some ideas to deal with the symptoms?

I use a 12 hour Sudafed and 800 mg ibuprofen to keep that symptom under control.

Babesia makes mine worse.

Keep in mind it is allergy season (ragweed, etc.) and head pressure is common if you are sensitive.

I am not diagnosing it, have no clue about the herbs you are taking and their relationship to the symptom, but I do hope you will get it checked out.

Feel better soon!

I had bad headaches that went on for years. I think it was more like I had a bad headache that went on for years. Mepron didn't stop it.

I made tinctures for the Buhner protocol for babesia and took them for five months. That stopped the worst of it and now I'm on his lyme protocol and that has been very helpful with the rest. I still do have headaches but they are much lesser.

Oh no! That's terrible. I got that the 2nd time I was infected and when I have a flare. I suspect babesia.

Artemisia may help along with the other drugs you're taking. Good luck! My sympathies.

Very cool (paleoclimate scientist)!

It can be hard to tell for some people. I had all of the symptoms on Dr. C's list, but maybe some just have some of them? I'm not sure.

Parasite meds and low fat diet have helped me.

Argh - I just went through that powerpoint and I have 90% f those symptoms. Yikes. If the meds overlap with Babesia, though, does it matter if I get tested for Proto?

Parasite meds and IM rocephin have been the most useful meds thus far, but I assumed parasite meds were working on babs. Hmm.

So it sounds like more parasite meds should help the head pressure then. Fingers crossed - I'm temporarily off anything except herbs because of abdominal pain, but hopefully I can get back on those soon.

I'm not sure which bug causes it, but I have it too just like you describe, and amoxil makes it herx. Cefprozil made the head/sinus pressure herx too. I used to think my pressure was bartonella, but bart drugs don't make it herx. Weird stuff!

I would say Babs or proto (like Catgirl said)

I just posted about proto here
