I've found it effects executive functioning (like the CEO of the brain responsible for planning and organizing tasks) and overall cognitive functioning--they go together. I find it effects working memory (holding on to the steps to do things--wait, what do I do next? after you get a portion of the task done), processing speed, and comprehension.

I'll need to re-read a few times, as I cannot remember the names etc.[no joke here].It is interesting.
Makes me wonder if I was actually born w/ LD? I had eye hand coordination, difficulties from birth, among other things. Left right differentiation is another issue.

Yes,I do believe so among various family members.
Aspergers very likely[probably 3 in the family], Landau Kleffner Syndrome [sp.][ often is mis-dx'ed as Autism] a cousins child, and Dyscalculia besides just my issues. And a cousin developmentally delayed.
Also hearing impairment issues, of 4 of five of us in immediate family . This doesn't help with cognitive situations either.
So looking at it, yup...I didn't think about how many in the family,there are a lot.
Many have overcome a lot, we have Nurses, Teachers, and there were an electrician /mechanic,and an engineer/professor with in our family groups.
I see signs of issue throughout our family,especially after reading those links. Interesting, I'm glad you brought this up!!

Glad to be of service. There is also the possibility that there could be a mild or mild learning disabilities that are exacerbated by Lyme and cos to varying degrees.

Also, the articles above contain information that could be shared with children's teachers and appropriate staff for a child to receive accommodations under 504 or special ed.
If a child doesn't qualify for special ed, he or she can still get accommodations via 504 for medical reasons.
A lady in my local Lyme support group was able to get 504 accommodations for her children for Lyme. One of them included the option to take a nap in the nurses offices if they got fatigued.

As I have learned a little at a time about the Lyme and Co's. I wonder, often, how deeply it got ingrained into our family.
Parkinson's disease both paternal granparents had it, heart issues both sides of the family, cancers, Wegner's disease/Granulomatosis, diabetes... so many many things. Another thing, digestive disorders too
And I keep thinking about how the Borrellia infections and co-infections rob so much from our bodies, and now there is more and more tie ins to infections and inflammations that may be causing cancer.
Diabetes seems to be common w/ LD and Co's too, it would be interesting to know a little more about the genetic aspects of it all.
Gotta close for a bit, and get going haircut time, early voting, and the ever present laundry.
Laptop is still having issues, skipping and rearranging, so I hope I caught all the typo's.
