Hi all
My 19 year old son is having increasing anxiety. Any suggestions on supplements/herbs to help?

Also, is 5 HTP for anxiety? sleep?

Thank you

I found that a lot of people take NAC for anxiety. I take it for Lyme because it thins biofilm, raises glutathione levels, helps with sinusitis and protects the synovial fluid. It elevates my mood and

makes me feel very much at peace with the world. If your son has Lyme, Lyme causes nightmares, fear and anxiety that is through the roof, not to mention paranoia. In order to get to the root cause of all of that,

I found that I couldn't just take something to improve mood - I had to kill the spirochettes that had invaded my brain. When I was at my worst, I took Cat's Claw and it brought me back to normal. (Samento & Banderol are homeopathics for that) I tried a couple of different types of NAC and I find

that the one that creates the best mood for me is: NOW NAC 600mg with Selenium and Molybdenum. As for 5HTP, it helps the body produce Serotonin which helps with mood, sleep, etc.

Here is a link from WebMD on 5HTP. http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-794-5-htp.aspx?activeingredientid=794

Ashwagandha may help anxiety.

5htp does help sleep, but it is not exceptionally strong when it comes to knocking you out.

We found that stopping gluten, dairy and sugar helped stop the Fight or Flight anxiety. It helped knock the inflammation down as that looped into cortisol(stress hormone) and anxiety.

Also, keeping the pH from getting too acidic. Shoot for normal pH. Too much acidity causes inflammation and that feeds that cytokine loop which can end up with anxiety.

One of the things we used was Picot from Walgreens (cheaper than Alka Setlzer Gold). He took it away from meals so as to not muck up the digestion of food.

Rescue Remedy by Bach helps.

Mindful Breathing- big inhale for 4 seconds, hold 7 seconds (oxygenates), exhale for 8 seconds (calms).
Try to make it a habit.

Rife helped kill pathogens and that helped because emotionally he could see progress being made.

Avoid any food additives. MSG is hidden in so many descriptions and it is a neuro excitatory toxin.

5HTP NOW brand has worked well for me but don't take if you are on an sari.

I recommend taking 5htp with some food.

I take from 100-5oo mg as needed.

I really like l theanine better because it doesn't bother my stomach at all.

I take 1-300 mg as needed, works fast,15 minutes or so and is cheaper than 5htp.

I take them both together if Im pretty bad but always reach for l theanine first

Avoid all artificial sugars, stick with stevia for a sweetener.

Detox and make sure you don't get constipated
