Hi
my llmd recently changed my thyroid meds from 3 grains to 2.5 and added 50mcg of levo.. i felt pretty good for a few days and then GI issues sat in.. bad diarrhea.. when i called them He said i have developed a "sensitivity" and needed to get some Ellen Cutler work done to "de -sensitize myself" the type of work is BioSet.

I think the dose was just too much at one time..it has been 2 weeks and i greatly lowered my dose of T4 and then cut it out and am still have the "trots" but not as bad.

wondering has anyone heard of this type of thing being "desensitized" it sure is expensive and with the other treatment protocols i can't really afford it.
unless i know for sure it is going to work.

thank you

There is a whole range of "normal" when it comes to thyroid levels. What is good for one may cause unpleasant symptoms in another.

All that to say, you are right, you may not have needed the dose increase. If you are not experiencing true hypo symptoms, you may want to talk with your doctor about staying on your current dose.

Adrenals and iron deficiency can mimic hypo thyroid symptoms too. So you might have those evaluated too if you are having symptoms but extra thyroid medicine did not help, it made you sicker.

I actually bought a BioSet kit about 15 years ago. It is the same or similar to NAET. Here is info on NAET:https://www.naet.com/

As with all things, some people sing its praises and say it really helps. Others don't get helped at all. And yes, it probably is expensive. It is at least out of pocket.

I agree with the previous post. The diarrhea was probably because you did not need it. Or there was something in it that your body didn't like. For instance, I cannot take Armour thyroid. Instant diarrhea even though I need thyroid supplementation.

Some people don't tolerate any Thyroid meds or supplements until their adrenals are supported. That might be something else to consider.

thanks for the feedback about bioset.. i am throulgy confused.

i do take cortef so adrenals should be supported..have been on it for a few years.

also here is a short thyroid history
was taking 3 grains NDt no trouble with bowels.

oct lyme dr switched to 50levo + 2.5 grain am that is when the trouble started.

stopped levo only on 2.5 grain things calmed down- body temp drop t0 97

added 6 levo to the 2.5 ndt trots again after 4 days.

the stranger thing is at the beginning of the year i was on 112 levo and 15 t3. no trouble with bowels.. i changed to 3 grains ndt in may..and again no trouble. until this oct trying to add the levo back it..

i am really confused.
