Any recommendations for good pillows for neck and upper back pain and stiffness? My neck and upper back are either always painful, stiff, sore, or a combo of uncomfortable feelings.

I use the cheapest ones from Walmart and replace them any time I start to get neck pain. I don't like fancy pillows. They always make me

wake up with neck pain. And pillows die. Any time I've started sleeping on an expensive pillow, I end up with neck pain. When a pillow dies (goes flat), I buy a new one.

I use 2 full size body pillows. One pillow I lean against my back. The other runs in between my legs all the way up to my head to rest.

I also use lidocaine patches, 2 at a time on my neck and shoulder blades.

Also, midol (menstral cramps) works within 10 minutes for back pain.

Also heating pad on low. Or when pain is unbearable, I use gel packs that I keep in freezer.

If your physically able, an Epsom salt bath before bed.

Never underestimate a good opiate.

I use a pillow that I just love. its got a little air bag in the middle that you inflate to the level thats just right for you to fill in that space between your head and the mattress when you're laying on your side. Its got a gel honey comb like structure that is supper supportive and it just keeps on going.. 16 years of use now.

Have you considered seeing a chiropractor?

As hard as it is to think about (for me at least), ice works better than heat.

Be sure to keep a thin layer between your skin and the pack.

If you sleep on your back, try putting a log pillow under your knees to raise up your hips to minimize strain.

Morton's makes a nice epsom salt lotion that can help ease muscle tension as well.

Thanks, MominTexas. Yes, I have considered seeing a chiropractor. I need to check into the cost and see if it's doable if a new pillow I ordered doesn't help. Thanks so much.

The absolute best pillow I have ever purchased was recommended by a chiropractor friend.

I got it a few years ago at Holylamborganics.com

They have the best "Wholly" down pillows. They are wool pillows made with fill of little puff balls to simulate down. The combo is the best of down and the supreme support and comfort of wool!

By far my favorite pillow ever!!! Will never go without!

I can sleep comfortably on my back, side or stomach with this pillow. It always feels great!

Your welcome! I remember my chiropractor friend told me why the wool pillow was the best to get... There were so many reasons why, I seem to have forgotten many!

-I know that it is recommended for fibromyalgia pain patients.
-It stays at a comfortable temperature all night, does not get hot on your face or head
-Wicks moisture away from body
-It's natural
-Doesn't grow bacteria or mold, no dust mites, just put it in the sun every couple months to "wash" it. The website has special washing instructions if desired.

That's what comes to mind real quick!

I tried the regular packed wool pillow before getting this pillow and it was nice for a few months but it compressed quickly then there was nothing I could do about it.

With the Wholly down you can choose to make yours firmer if you want by adding extra down fill or even take fill out if you need it softer. The pillow compresses only to a small degree so it is by far all around a better pillow than the first kind that I got.

Ok, I love my pillow! You get that [Smile]

I really like my contoured memory foam pillow.
But the best way to ease your neck and back would be to use PEMF, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy.

The SOTA Magnetic Pulser is the most affordable that I know of.

I like pillows that are small and keep my spine plus cervical spine on the same level or degree. The blood flow should not be blocked in the first place. After years damage is inevitable if you don't keep attention on such details. This is all good, but best will be to fully work upon our spine and back in general. Many do exercise that damages instead of making healthy results. For me inversions exercises with tables and chairs are very effective. Also, who wants even further there are yoga trapeze and headstand bench that do amazing things with our body. If someone is interested with more information you can check out this website .
