Has anyone been helped with chiropractic adjustments?
Can being chronically out of alignment cause ill health? Or keep you from fully healing?

Yes, I have. But for me, very slow treatment was / is necessary.

It never made much difference unless I was getting help with acute pain. No long lasting effects for me.

Takes me out of acute pain. Then I go out again. So I also recommend doing physical therapy, to strengthen, reposition the body, etc.

Also recommend taking magnesium to relax muscles, and supplements to strengthen joints, like liquid minerals, collagen support, biosil, etc.

I've been helped tons by chiropractic. Chiro alone wasn't enough. I also did Pilates and massage therapy to keep my spine in alignment. Lyme cause a lot of imbalances in my body that those three things helped.

A good Chiropractor can really help. I don't need to go regularly, just when I have an acute problem.

One of my very best friends is an excellent Chiropractor. I would trust my life to him. He does an great job!

He will even adjust/ realign all of my other joints besides the spine. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. A major symptom of this is frequent joint dislocations.

Most of the time I can pop my joints back on my own. Sometimes they are a little more stubborn and I need a little more help. My Chiropractor friend is patient and amazing at working with my crazy messed up joints!

So I don't believe that being chronically out of alignment will actually cause you to have poor health. It also will not actually prevent you from fully healing.

I think that it is the other way around, that being sick can cause you to be chronically out of alignment. That is what I have been taught.

(breaking up a paragraph for easier reading for many here)

Yes, it really helps me. Being chronically out of alignment can keep one from detoxing. In fact my doc (not chiro) told me I couldn't detox without getting certain things adjusted.

A good chiro is well worth it. I suggest one who is experienced with the activator method.

Yes, it helps my hubby. Our Chiropractor tells us to drink extra water after an adjustment to help with the detox.

Re force of chiropractic adjustments, there's really forceful, medium force, light force, and hardly no presssure at all. We each get to find out what we respond best to. For me, medium force.

Ditto with the activator - we get to see if we can handle it and where.

Btw, I had a discussion with my chiro recently - he feels that I'm different because of the Lyme disease and how it affects tissues - ie I'm a more repetitive chiro patient.

So I think it's important for us to do a broad spectrum of treatment, including supplements, stretch, get massage, do PT, and Pilates as sixgoofy mentioned above if we can.
