I advise against the Sea Salt / Vitamin C "protocol". I do not think it is safe for many people. It may have / do okay and well for some but the risk is too serious.

Kidney damage / failure can result and too many confuse the warning signs with a "herxheimer" and try to tough it out. It has happened to more than just a handful of people. But my computer file can't seem to locate the articles I saved on this issue.

I do think sea salt in the diet is a good thing and for most people there is no need to deprive the body of good salt in the proper amount (typical table salt should always be avoided, though). Yet, to overload as per the "protocol" goes way overboard for some bodies.

To its credit, and many overlook this, the protocol insists on starting Low & Slow. This is vital if you do it. So is being monitored by a doctor if you do this.

And, if you do this, please, back off the instant you might feel worse. Do not ever assume it's "just a herx" . . . please.

Separate issue and far different daily dose: a small amount of sea salt in the morning can be helpful to adrenals. But do not confuse this as saying just open the flood gates with more & more.

My concern comes with the higher doses, though.

I just do not think it's a safe bet for all bodies that are already weak in the heart and kidney functions as lyme can cause. And even if sea salt, going higher than a normal daily amount can toss way out of balance other key minerals and electrolytes, for a start.

There are many safer ways. There are many, many safer ways.

Be sure to get all of the books on lyme, coinfections and antimicrobial herbs by Stephen Harrod Buhner. I think there are 4 or 5 of them.

A Rife machine is also something to consider.

However, there is a method called the Himalayan Salt PIPE therapy [breathing in the air that flows over the salt] that is helpful for the lungs. That is totally different, though, and can have wonderful results.
