QUOTE- "Common deficiencies in Lyme: magnesium: has to be given transdermal or via injection. Oral Magnesium feeds spirochetes"

Thought you'd like to know.

I'd like to know why he thinks that.

It looks like his treatment program is suitable for the Kardashians. Who on earth can pay for all this stuff?

I don't know about Magnesium but MANGANESE absolutely feeds lyme. In fact it substitutes Manganese in place of iron unlike most bacteria

A lot of people confuse them. I've never heard of magnesium feeding Bb through the gut.

this theory makes no sense to me at all.

so if i take Mg orally the spirochetes eat it up, but if i take it IV direct to blood stream they cant get at it...somehow?

what??

that is totally illogical.

If you are without magnesium .. you will suffer in many other ways.

Best to keep things in balance.

I take it and have never thought it made me feel worse. It is a very vital nutrient!Very early on (at the rash stage) there is a “significant” loss of magnesium which we know from a Romanian Cancer Hospital abstract titled: “Lyme disease and magnesium deficiency”.

The amt. of loss, that which has left the cells (Mg-ATP) appears far greater than one would expect if released from only infected cells.

One would logically assume the magnesium was released from one of the body’s storage areas, the major “detox” organ of the body, the liver.

The reasons why the body chose to release this mineral into the blood stream in addition to that which left the infected cells are many.

Magnesium looks to INactivate PFK and INactivate HMG CoA reductase…effectively putting the brakes on the glycolysis and cholesterol pathways simultaneously.

Along with calcium, it is needed to make healthy antibodies. It is needed to make all proteins, including enzymes and hormones. It is an anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine. It is a natural calcium channel blocker.

Magnesium, in large doses can displace zinc. Magnesium can block the loss of protein kinase C (Bb contains a protein kinase C inhibitor). It raises HDL which in turn reduces inflammation. It stimulates DNA repair.

And high levels of Mg INactivate NFkB.

Every energy-producing reaction in the cell depends on magnesium as an accompanying cofactor for the cell's main energy molecule, ATP. Magnesium is also essential for the stability of the cell's membranes and its protein-producing ribosomes

I am more frightened and yet interested in zinc.I don't see any articles on magnesium... but maganese and zinc seem to be huge players.

You know what else feeds spirochetes / ANY infection? Our body tissues, our bones.

They will get their energy from whatever "food sources" are around. If we starve ourselves of one nutrient, they will move on to another.

I'd rather bacteria and viruses take a little of my food , for I can adjust food / nutrients so that my cells get what they need, too. The best ways to address infection are not through starvation. There are many other options to assertively and directly address infections.

If we were to try to starve out any infection by withholding a nutrient that is also key to our body's very cells, connective tissues and even bone structure, then we would be starving our cells, too, and that is destructive in many ways.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Just because certain infections "like" or have been found under microscopes to have gathered certain nutrients from our diet in them, that does not mean that we must withhold.

The logic falls short - and suggesting that everyone avoid magnesium can actually cause death for some. Such advice, such snapshot headlines are irresponsible. See why that is, explained in articles in links set below.

Also know that most LL doctor simply do not agree with withholding any key nutrients, especially magnesium. Again, for reasons in articles below.

I am so, so, so tired of this scare tactic. The bottom line is that our cells require certain nutrients. We have to make sure we get them in the right amounts, at the right times and in the most bioavailable forms -- and, ta-da, that is orally, through food sources 3 or 4 x day.

Magnesium must be in our diet throughout the day - never all at once. The body cannot hold onto it. All at once puts kidneys at risl.

Seriously, people can die from magnesium deficiency. Heart attacks, especially, are more likely in those with such deficiency.

yes, in emergencies, IV or transdermal might be needed but, for most humans, such elaborate methods are not the best for ongoing nutrition.

As for other nutrients one might think "feeds" any infection, same deal. If we require it, we require it. In the proper amounts, times, and most bioavailable forms.

Not too little, not too much. Enough. In balance with other nutrients. As nature intended.

I'd rather take magnesium than not take it. Besides its 300 enzyme uses, I just learned another reason why we need to be taking it.

A presentation in the GMOs Revealed Summit said magnesium balances the calcium ions that get drawn into our cells when exposed to emfs, like from cell phones/cordless phones/computers/cell phone towers/wifi etc, so taking magnesium reduces dangerous oxidative pathways that can be set off from all our exposure to emfs.

Great info, Robin!

I never stopped taking mag while going through treatment.

I've started taking baths adding Epsom salts so the Mg can be absorbed through the skin.

Mg is essential and we are designed to obtain it through diet, not injection or transdermal. It is naïve to think we can starve out Lyme by withholding essential nutrients from our bodies.

I listened to a podcast where Dr K said to not take the MG orally. During the Chronic Lyme conference in June or July. His suggestion was to put in on topically with a spray or oil.

At the time I did not see a specially formulated spray marketed by a supplement maker he is associated or was associated with.

I have not backed off taking oral MG though.

All the Best, MattH
