If you have a swollen joint and the swelling goes down but the joint still hurts, does that mean that lyme (or whatever) damaged the joint, or is still in the joint or maybe something else?
The reduction in swelling was a year ago.
Another question.
Can you get lyme in your joints without any swelling?

I think you can have plenty of pain without swelling. I have no idea about damage. I guess that could be seen on an MRI.
Yes, you could have lyme without swelling.
All this said, many things can affect our joints. I have found that lectins cause joint pain for me, as does gluten and dairy. Then there are nightshades and oxalates to consider!!
Tops on the list for me is oxalates, lectins and gluten as far as joint pain goes.

I had damage with no swelling ..bvt has helped popping cruching and debilitating sx go away.coulda been bart myco lyme or all 3
