Sounds like GAPs allows fruit, which in my experience, does NOT seem to be the problem. So maybe that one?

The BED diet person is saying that allowing fruit on GAPs is feeding candidas.

Anyone have an opinion?

I have horrible dysbyosis and candida. I ve tried gaps,SCD,fodmaps,all the carbs in those diets make me worse.

IMO the healthiest atkins diet you can come up with is your best start to get things under control.

If you have yeast and you eat carbs your body will let you know.

Its a bugger to get rid of.

Do you herxhiemer on antifungals?

Hmmm, interesting.

Yeah, I definitely suffer when I eat carbs. In fact, an ice cream cone (I know!) sent me into a pretty serious donwward spiral.

Thus the need to really get this figured out and now.

Do you eat any fruit at all?

wait, no I haven't been on antifungals for a while. Maybe I should ask my Lyme doc for a Rx. Nystatin didn't seem to do anythign for me. Maybe Diflucan.

I am going to try some Paul d'Arco tea and see what happens. I'm on herbal tinctures that are more aimed at Lyme. I think my Lyme islicked and now Candidas is issue.

I can't see to get better but I sure know how to get worse,by eating carbs

If I eat a lot of carbs for a few days Im off the deep end with worsening of symptoms.

If you eat carbs and your worse than sugar is feeding something(candida or sibo)

Try some garlic or caprylic acid and see what happens,if its yeast I would think you should herx

Between eating the carbs and trying an anti fungal your body should tell you if its yeast at least.

All those gaps ,SCD diets just make me worse.

not the same thing.

Carbs may not be the problem at all but the refined, processed, ground down to flour or paste foods. Yes, these are carbs but carbs that have been adulterated.

We require carbohydrates. Real food includes: protein, carbohydrates, fats.

We need each but in the form that is "closest to nature" so to speak. Like your great, great, great grandparents might have used as fuel - before food was beaten to a pulp, molded into eye candy and put in a box on a store shelf.

Vegetables, especially. The best carbs in the world.

Even some low glycemic fruits MIGHT work for some who deal with candida. They contain some nutrients that can help our eyes - and so much more. DARK berries or cherries, a VERY small amount AFTER a well balanced meal or protein snack.

Best to get stabilized first, though.

But do include at least 5 different kinds of vegetables each day, about 9 servings, at least. All the different colors each day, too. That's just 2 or 3 with each meal (even, especially breakfast) and two or three veggie snacks.

And non-gluten whole grains -- of which many are not actual grain but seeds (like millet, quinoa) or legume (buckwheat groats). Black rice & Wild Rice (really a grass) . . . . in moderation, these are vital for nutrients, fiber and glycemic stability to carry through vegetables, proteins and fats (be sure you have all food groups).

All these grains are excellent on the glycemic scale, when a small part of a meal.

I suggest starting by getting processed sugars (any finely ground food products even if no sugar is added)

& GLUTEN out of the way.

You might find a good relief from those two steps.

Also being sure anything you eat is NON-GMO is vital. Even dropping just GMO foods can have a good effect for some.

But I think GLUTEN is also so very important to consider avoided to see how you do.

Organic or transitionally grown foods are also best.

OLE turned around candida for me, even when I was on antibiotics.

Olive leaf extract is just one of dozens of herbs that can be very helpful support against candida.
A naturopathic physician would be able to help you with finding the right ones for you.

Also read all you can from Stephen Buhner, a master herbalist who is very LL.

Most processed foods likely have some kind of MSG, too, even if the label does not state it.

See the articles here about wheat. Many LLMDs strongly suggest those with lyme go gluten free. You can also sort out possible celiac. Details:

As chocolate might be a treat hard to resist, there is usually some way to still have a treat and have it be good for you.

Organic dark cocoa powder - or org. carob root powder (even together, they are great)

can be mixed with some coconut or other nut oil and a little stevia and just enjoyed with a tiny elegant spoon from a tiny little dish. I use one of the miniature pitchers like for maple syrup.


Another treat, also great in tiny cute cup:

Artisana Coconut BUTTER, it's a whole coconut puree, really. No other brand compares, IMO.

You can mix with a little real vanilla extract. Sweet enough on its own to be heaven.

And their cashew butter is excellent, too. VitaCost or iHerb might have better prices yet these are in many good food stores.

Both are great alone for a little snack or to make your dinner dance.

Both are pretty high in histamine, so be careful.

I made great progress against yeast by taking biotin. It keeps the yeast from turning into a fungus.

The best "diet" is one that greatly limits sugar.

Tutu - biotin - hmmm - okay - I'll try it. What if the yeast is already a fungus?

I have been taking Florastor- just started today to hopefully get my diarhhea under control.

I use NOW brand. I was taking 1,000 mcg twice a day and now that I've lowered my intake of oxalates, I raised it to 5,000 mcg.

I just started taking the 5,000 mcg, so I'm afraid to take them twice a day right now. I don't want to dump oxalates too quickly.
