I took notes on the recent Dr. H. talk. Here they are. (I just took notes of things that were new or of interest to me):

Dr. H., 2017 Southern Tier Lyme Support, Inc., Lyme Conference

Ideas from his latest book.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZu0wEOFVM8

(Numbers are references to the minute/second the statement is made on the video.)

38:42 The inflammatory response to lyme shuts off the pituitary. Therefore, the patient has no testosterone, has an early menopause, etc. And, they will have no adrenal response.

Diagnostic tests: He uses a C6 Elisa with a Western Blot (WB) from Igenex because they test for 2 strains of lyme.

43:30 When lyme invades the lymph nodes, it destroys the part of the lymph node that makes IgG antibodes. That is why so few lyme patients test positive on the IgG. In a study, only 1 out of 100 lyme patients were CDC positive on the IgG Western Blot. 3600 patients were in the study. Of them, only 36 could get a positive IgG.

50 Babs suppresses the immune system also. Use intracellular antibiotics for the sickest patients.

52 A study that confirmed evidence of ongoing Bb DNA in patients with PTSD. BUT, the medical publication did NOT report this!!!! He read the exact sentence they included in the publication. It is very vague and never states what they found. (This is a 2014 study—medical profession being untruthful AGAIN!)

52:20 Biofilms keep doctors from being able to culture bacteria in many diseases including staph, Bb, C diff, etc. Biofilms help diseases persist. These diseases can get into the brain and then the brain forms plaques around them. Then, the person has Alzheimer’s. This includes gingivitis, helicobacter, and lyme.

56 At a World Health Organization meeting in June 2017, they are trying to get a code for chronic lyme. Then, it will be covered by insurance. (ICD-11 codes) There are codes for crazy things like being hit by a duck or a rocket, but no code for chronic lyme. They looked at past studies of long-term antibiotic treatment for lyme and found that people got better, but they did NOT stay better. Why? Because they didn’t treat them for all of their ailments!

58 80% of the time you get babesiosis with lyme. This can go up to 90%. About 50% get bart, and 10% have candida

59 Lyme causes many autoimmune phenomena (meaning antibodies) So, the lyme patient will have a positive ANA, RF+. etc. This is all due to having lyme.

59:30 With resistant patients, check for mercury, lead, arsenic. These cause neuropathy. Treat these people for heavy metals.

1:01 Histamine sensitivity and MCAD 1:02 Food allergies 1:03 Deficiencies include magnesium, copper, iodine, and zinc. These things keep the inflammatory reaction going.

1:04 For the heart, give CoQ10, NT factor. This is a mitochondrial dysfunction.

1:05 Dapsone for psychiatric problems. Take 25 mg every other day.

1:10 Insomnia from lyme is a circadian rhythm disorder. 1:10:30 ANS (autonomic nervous system) dysfunction presents as can’t poop and also POTS. 40% of his patients have POTS

1:12:30 If you have babs, you can’t clear intestinal parasites. 1:13 Elevated liver enzymes, liver function tests

1:16 If the patient has autism, look at the gut. Give probiotic enemas because a fecal transplant won’t be approved for these patients.

1:17 Environmental pollution, BPAs, pesticides, etc. is causing a lot of autoimmune illnesses and pesticides are found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients

1:18 You must check the red blood cells for low minerals (magnesium, copper, zinc) or the inflammation will continue. [My note: in other words, a regular blood test will not discover these. You need the red blood cell test instead.]

1:19:30 He gave 2 grams of glutathione daily to get rid of brain fog in a computer programmer and after that, the patient could work again. So, just detoxing him enabled him to get back to work.

1:20 In some people, when the immune system attacks the flagella of Bb, it will cause demylenation and neuropathy. That’s why there is so much neuropathy in lyme. The microglia in the brain are activated and cause symptoms of Alzheimer’s, MS.

1:22 Low Vitamin D is associated with MS (the patient will have the wrong ratio of 125 to 25 Vitamin D) This indicates inflammation.

1:23:50 Living close to a highway makes you at higher risk for autism due to the pollutants the baby is exposed to daily. Some inflammatory cytokines are found in the brains of autism patients.

1:24:21 The more viruses (CMV, HSV-1) and bacteria (including Bb, c. pneumonia, H. pylori) in your brain, the greater your chances of getting Alzheimer’s. If you can shut down the inflammatory process, the symptoms will get better.

1:26 To lower inflammation: Use plaquenil, IVIG, antioxidants, CoQ10, glutathione precursors, B vitamins, ALA, omega 3s, glutathione. He uses green tea extract, curcumin, resveratrol and broccoli seed extract. The broccoli seed extract also hits cancer genes. He likes it. Cancer runs in his family, so he takes it.

1:26:40 LDN 1:27 Eat an anti-inflammatory diet (use either Paleo or Mediterranean), replace your minerals, treat all infections, detox, avoid foods you are allergic to, and get your sleep as additional ways to lower inflammation.

1:32:30 They are finding mold toxin in 2/3 of his patients. Many people with Parkinson’s Disease have pesticide toxicity. Get these out with glutathione.

1:36 Meditation also lowers inflammation.

Treatment of lyme--Dapsone

1:36:40 Plaquenil hits the cyst form of lyme. Serapeptase and Neutramedix stevia hit biofilms.

1:38 Using persister drugs—Dapsone. 1:39 For a small percent of patients, you must pulse the Dapsone to get rid of persisters. Old TB persister drug (perizinimide) helped a patient with bartonella nodules on her hands (misdiagnosed as Behcet’s). This drug goes inside the cells.

1:41:30 Dapsone is used for leprosy, but it hits persisters and parasites and hits autoimmune illnesses. It gives a herx, so go slow!! Or pulse it (25 mg every other day). Work up to 100 mg.

It also causes anemia, can give rashes (it is a sulfa drug), and can cause methemoglobinemia (a blood disorder).

1:43:20 Also, you can’t carry oxygen, so you can get blue hands and lips. So, consider Dapsone if you have failed ALL other lyme drugs. It is very effective for neuro lyme symptoms.

If you failed all babs drugs, also consider it.

1:45:28 We don’t know the effective dose and the length of treatment necessary to completely eliminate persisters. The higher the dose of Dapsone, the better. Doxy, rifampin, and Dapsone is most effective combo (using 3-4 intracellular drugs together)

1/3 of patients cannot take Dapsone due to its side effects.

1:49 It does not affect your gut, so no candida concerns

1:50 Summary: You must treat all 3 forms of lyme. His new book goes into Dapsone treatment. They are doing a study so insurance will pay for treatment with Dapsone.

Believe me, these notes don't do the talk justice.

By putting the minute next to the subject, you can jump right to a subject that applies to you. Then, you can hear ALL that was actually said. It is so much more than what I have in my notes.

The notes are more like an outline of the talk with certain sentences highlighted.

TF,

Thanks a bunch for taking the time & energy to provide such a thorough and wonderful running list for us from the lecture.

So many good nuggets here and you've already done the note taking. What a treat.

I wish he would talk more about bartonella.. symptoms etc

Bartonella being a persister cell bacteria now too, man that's scary.

This disease is becoming so hard to treat!

I like that trick he said if you have ticks on your clothing, just throw your clothes in the dryer for at least 15 minutes to kill them. One things for sure, you better make sure you kill them or this might transfer ticks to another persons clothing in your house, kind of scary...

Glad to hear that anti-parasitic drug daraprim/Pyrimethamine helped someone, starting to hear more about this drug on the forums.

daraprim helps me! And I don't take very much of it... seems to help my babesia... but it doesn't cut it... :/
