All I know is that I won't be getting one.

Aside from an awkward headline and discrediting in the article those who became very ill from LymeRix . . . .

How can I trust anything they say if they discredit those people who were harmed by LymeRix?

It is good that they are considering some new ways to approach this, as it's not (supposed to be) like a typical vaccine. I look forward to hearing what ILADS LL doctors might say about this.

It's still a few years from market. My biggest concern right now is when they go to human trials. How will that be designed?

** Will they actually expose or inject lyme into the test subjects? This would be unthinkable and unethical. **

Yet, did those scientists who developed this vaccine approach know all the science about lyme & how it affects the human body, regarding how it flips immune function, how it can evade, etc.

Can the mice and tests be foolproof?

When they state that NONE of the mice got lyme after the vaccine, what tests are they using to determine that?

We all know many of the tests to determine lyme are not accurate. So, I'd want to be very, very sure that their testing methods are exceptionally accurate.

What STRAIN are they working with? There are over 300 different strains and many of those affect humans.

And, did they test the mice six months later, a year later? We all know that sometimes lyme can be dormant and then blast out in months later.

I'm more concerned with their actual thought process and rigors of research,

still, if all that is all they claim,

what else would be in that? One of the major issues with vaccines is all the other stuff in with it (and the sheer number of them as well).

That they seem to think a lyme vaccine of any type though will be enough against tick borne infection is frightening. A tick bite, even without lyme, is still fraught with enormous risk for a myriad of infections.

Will this new "vaccine" mean that most typical doctors will now be even more dismissive of those getting tick bites?

And last but not at all least in the consideration list: what cost to patients & insurers?

Will the profit return to the scientists be reasonable pay in light of their efforts? Who is funding this? A foundation or a corporation? Where will the profits go?

For those who may not know: the last lyme vaccine was a disaster for many. Even if now to be by a different method, trust and credibility (or lack of both) matters.

A little history:

While the ingredients list is likely not ready for consumers for any new kind of lyme vaccine whether in the UK or US (still has a ways to go), still, it's good to keep in mind the basics, regarding the full list of ingredients:

I hope the scientists are asking all your questions Keebler.

Just spotted this in the first link Hiker posted:

"But because the antibody itself only has a lifespan of six to nine months, the jab would be given annually before the high-risk summer months, when the chances of being bitten by ticks lurking in long grass are greatest."

NO WAY, Jose! They are really after the $$$$$ .. Yearly shots .. what a money-maker for them and a damaging scenario for patients.

That is just horrible.

And how do they know it would cover all genospecies, and what about the co-infections? Not exactly cool to think you're safe outdoors from just a Lyme shot.

Let's see... just how many infections can you get from a tick?

They are setting people up to thinking that they will be safe in the woods and can do anything they want out there.

Realize that, IMO, this reporter has limited scope and inadequate research as well as sorely limited knowledge about the science of lyme. No good questions about the new vaccine were raised here.

Truly, lyme disease can be devastating. Truly, a vaccine that would be both safe & effective would be good.

But when the same regulatory body "fast tracks" the new one without even admitting what was wrong with the last, well, it does give one pause - even if the new one is supposed to work in a different manner.

The author here seems to follow instructions to disparage those whose lives were harmed by the previous vaccine. Of course, this appears to be part of an overall PR campaign - she writes that is exactly so and that a more sophisticated PR plan will follow.

And that does not bode well for so many reasons. It's the disparaging those who were harmed that I find the most chilling and dangerous. For, what if others might experience similar effects from the new one? They are already in line to be discounted as silly and fearful.

There appears to be no "reader comment" feature here so those who might post educational links for readers are just shut out.

I for one would never get this vaccine. It can't possibly cover the multitude of co-infections. Just a way for big pharma to make money at the expense of people who are sick.

Exactly .. same with nearly every vaccine out there today.

So the Lyme cabal is trying to figure out how to cash in the most.

First they admit they have been grossly under reporting the Lyme case count 300k vs 30k.

Next they know to maximize their cash in they will need to sell the vaccinate to all 50 states. I predict they will slowly start to admit and add states to their 'reported cases' on their 'epidemiology' maps. Of course they will try to sell it in Europe/Asia too. Maybe Australia.

Then they will have to overturn their lies that Lyme disease is easy to diagnose and cure. Otherwise, why would we waste resources making a vaccine if its so easy to diagnose and cure? They aren't making a vaccine for strep throat are they?

I wonder what the effects of injecting the vaccine into someone that is already carrying the bacteria in their bodies? I wonder what their plan is for that?

These greedy a**holes

Don't get this jab.

It's the same old vaccine that caused lyme to people without lyme, just in new clothes.

guess why the other lymerix was taken off??!

I agree: if you can't even prove you got lyme, how can a vaccine help eradicate lyme??

How do they know it works, if we are still trying to find ways to test positive for lyme?!!
