But, back to having body temp to a certain temperature "to kill the lyme" - No. No. No. Bad advice. It would have to be more than 102, not sure how much more but still, it's not safe. There is no body temperature high enough to "kill lyme" that would not put a person at risk.
When this is done, though, it's a very particular therapy and only a couple clinics in the world do this as it requires a mult-faceted very carefully monitored approach with variable results and some risk. [Hyperthermia, ICHT]
I would never trust any doctor who says you - on your own - can get your temperature high enough to kill lyme. I'd be finding a new one. -

- As for the flu, sorry to hear that's on top of all this.
I would not encourage a fever over 102 as that can be dangerous - brain damage, etc.. Sometimes, it might be best not to try to get temp down IF it's not in the danger zone and IF key support measures are on board that help keep the CYTOKINES from causing harm.
With such support, though, the temp often will come down. Suggestions in the threads below.
If it gets too high, though, that's when complications - that could be life threatening can occur such as septis - and it can develop even without a high temp with some staph infections. Detail below.
Key detail about CYTOKINE STORM - this is what can be fatal with flu or some other infections that proceed fast. -

Just to be clear: There is no body temperature high enough to "kill lyme" that would not put a person at risk.
103 is certainly in the danger zone. 102 of concern and requires adequate medical advice.
Hyperthermia / ICHT treatment is much higher than that by (I think 3 - 4 degrees to 106 but don't recall exactly - just never try to get your body temp to these numbers). ICHT is very complex with various elements, including attention to blood glucose pushing which I think is very dangerous - and only under medical supervision in a couple places in the world.
I hope you feel better soon. Take really good care of yourself. Hope you can feel more like it's a nurturing time in some ways. -

You're one of the lucky people who can get colds and flus. Ironically enough, I wish my Lyme was controlled enough that I could get colds again. The lyme beats up all other illnesses it appears in a lot of us.

my husband got flu last year. he ran a fever of 101 and 102 for days. dr jus said stay home. luckily he recovered with no problem..
when I got bit many years ago I ran a fever of 105, was hospitalized for weeks. they never gave my family a definitive diagnosis other than undeterred virus.

just thought i would update my flu status and i
ended up in the hospital with the flu and
confusion.. i spent 6 days there.. my bilirubin
was up as well as alt and the other one..i did not
have sepsis as they have tested for that..i had
101 to 102.5 for three days..fever broke but
the flu was still there.. i had 99 fever for a
while..they gave me tamiflu for 6 days..it was
really bad flu..btw if you get this go to the
hospital as this is no normal flu...
