I've been on generic Zetia for a year, it is sometimes used to fight Cholesterol for those who can't/wont do statin drugs.
It 'acts by a different mechanism than statin drugs...'. I had carefully checked side effects, and tho't I'd be okay, Cardio Doc' really wanted me to stay on it.
I checked side effects again, and found an expanded list of them. Low and behold, it appears the 'fluish' feelings, joint pain, tiredness, and stiffness ,
...as well as unusual bleeding, rashes sore throats, hoarseness, low grade fevers and tightness and pain in chest, are sensitivity warnings, and a probable allergic reaction.
So I am off the Zetia med for a bit to see if it calms down. I was leary of it to begin w/ because it can cause some statin allergy/sensitivity type of reactions.
Tho' we kept being told that was/is rare, from the info' I saw, maybe it isn't all that rare, especially for allergy/ sensitivity prone people.
I don't think I'll be going back on it... and I am not convinced that the cholesterol is all bad always.

Those of us with Lyme and especially with MCAS react to many many meds. I'm glad you have found the source of your troubles.

Thank You <<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,
TrekC' and I both feel, the expanded listof side effects is to close to my symptoms to be a coincidence.
So I am hoping it resolves most of the issues, and we are looking for a Doctor w/ MCAS/MCAD knowledge.
Eating is still scarey, but we all have too!
