Since I started treatment which has been only ABABS and doxy once a day, I have uncontrollable shaking and crying all the time. Is this herxing? It seems that my anxiety is through the roof? I am not on much medicine so not sure what the reason could be? I appreciate any thoughts on this.

So sorry you are experiencing this nasty stuff!

Here is info on the Mepron Blues- link here, info printed below.

https://sites.google.com/site/marylandlyme/tick-borne-diseases/babesia

I would imagine it could be called ABABS Blues too, but when we named it years ago we were using Mepron for Babesia.

Feel better soon little baboon!

[Big Grin]

WARNING- MEPRON BLUES- This is a condition that often occurs after starting treatment for Babesiosis and can continue or come and go during treatment (sometimes on a 3 week to monthly basis). Patient can suddenly become severely depressed, even suicidal. Additionally, symptoms of Babesiosis can at first increase many times over rather than decrease as would typically be expected. It is important to be prepared for this situation and to know IT WILL GO AWAY and YOU WILL GET BETTER!

Some of the terms used by patients to describe what they dub the "Mepron Blues"...

Depression- can be deep and dark

Down feelings and sadness

Hopelessness

Helplessness

Wanting to die

Confusion

Extreme flares of pain

Flares of current symptoms

Not like yourself

Dragging around trying to accomplish anything

Crying all the time

Wanting to just lay in bed

Make the world go away

No motivation

No emotions

Anxiety

Feelings of doom

Crazy

Out of touch

Out of body feeling

Not in touch with self

Suicidal

Homicidal

If you experience any of these symptoms please contact your doctor. If you are feeling suicidal please contact the Suicide Hotline (many patients have and reported it really helped).

Very likely. Just know all those crazy things can happen to you, it's not "you", and it will get much better. Stay tough.

What happens when you stop meds?

Posted by lindadanis (Member # 51204) on :

I am going to stop the meds today for a few days and see if this stops. I feel like I am not on much medication to actually call this herxing but maybe I am wrong. Thanks for the input.

I also wanted to add this. My lyme doctor wants to put me on low dose lamictal and I am very nervous about that. I have tried a few antidepressants with no luck but maybe I wasn't on them long enough. Not sure. Hate putting these meds into my body.

I had this too - I did a lot of reminding myself that it wasn't me that was anxious, it was the bugs and just a biochemical reaction.

It all got better with treatment for, well, everything - Babs, Bart, Lyme, Mycoplasma, etc.

Best of luck, lindadanis.

Let us know how you are tomorrow, Linda.

I will Lymetoo. I am not taking anything for a few days and see what happens. I cannot stand waking up everyday like this, and the sweating in the morning is disgusting. why do I sweat so much when I first get up and so out of breath?? What is this? I have had endo workups, pulmonary testing last year that was fine, why do I wake up so anxious, unable to breath right and sweat profusely for a few hours. Not on much meds to cause all this.

Babesia can do all this when it's flaring - herx or not. Even if you stop meds, there's likely some die-off going on.

Hang in there!

Ditto to all paleogal says.

Q: ", why do I wake up so anxious, unable to breath right and sweat profusely for a few hours.?"

Babesia. It's what it does. WIth or without any treatment, it does this. Remember treatment is not magic. Treatment is not an antidote. Even with treatment the infections will continue to do their thing -- maybe just less and less at time goes on and the infection is fully managed.

Treatment for any of the TBD is not going to take away symptoms for quite a while. And, as you know often treatment causes "die off" so things can feel even more rough & tumble.

Still, in time, with the right treatment(s) that are assertive & direct enough

with the right kinds of supports to help our body tissue recover . . . yes, many have gotten much better, indeed.

The sweating can come at various times for various people. For myself, it seemed to always be about 2 am where I'd wake up swimming in sweat and burning with fever for a couple hours. I could also have daytime swings in temperature / sweating but it seemed like clockwork to have the 2 am hit.

Also likely involved - and this often goes with lyme / TBD:

Dysautonomia

"refers to a disorder of autonomic nervous system (ANS) function that generally involves failure of the sympathetic or parasympathetic components of the ANS, but dysautonomia involving excessive or overactive ANS actions also can occur." (end excerpt)

Be sure to not let yourself get too warm. Avoid hot baths (only cozy warm if you do okay with that afterward).

As summer approaches, be careful to not get overheated.

Crying could hit at any time, though. One big problem I found out later was with CYTOMEL, a T3 / thryoid Rx. That would wear off mid-afternoon and crash me. I'd be so exhausted and just about pass out just all of the sudden - every single day at the same time. That kind of bone deep exhaustion had me question how my body could possibly go on living.

It took a long time to figure out that much of that was the action of this drug. It has since become time released but I would never take it again.

Instead, I used a natural T3 & T4 called "NatureThroid" Much better.

Hi, I have been searching for an answer to extreme anxiety, panic and crying jags.inability to organize, get motivated...

My test with DNA CONNEXIONS did not report that it detected babesia or bart

It sounds more and more like my symptoms are these co-infections. The symptoms described above are many that I have.

What should I do? I have had these symptoms for three years. Im exhausted dealing with these symptoms.

Gnienay .. Find an LLMD and get tested for them. It won't show up on a DNA test.

If you had these symptoms before treatment, then you probably are herxing

Call your LLMD if you're not sure what to do
