Totally freaked me out. As you know my fellow sick lymmies, it takes a lot to freak us out anymore. Suddenly, out of the blue, my circumference of my field of vision exploded into a beautiful colorful firework show with lightning bolts,sparkles, and eruptions. It lasted 1/2 an hour then it disappeared..
Yeah, not normal. I believe it's brain related ? Absolutely no pain, a blessing.
Anyone experience this ? Thoughts ?
P.S. If we werent so pathetic, this would be funny.

Eye problem .. see your optometrist or opthamologist. Happened to me about 2-3 months ago.
Any floater-type stuff?

We're all different in how we respond to anything - I'm able to stop all Lyme eye symptoms by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory juice - found in healthfood stores and online.

I went to my optometrist last year due to blurry vision and floaters. I was wearing dollar store glasses to see. He said my vision was fine.
Robin123 Thanks for reminding me about mangosteen juice, I forgot all about it. It's expensive though, like everything else.

Eye problems are extremely common... I had floaters on and off, the whole time too.

You need to see an eye doctor ASAP. It have been a migraine or one of those lovely weird Lyme symptoms, but it could also be a torn or detaching retina. Please have it checked out. Your eyesight is nothing to fool around with.

Call your eye doctor NOW. They might need to see you RIGHT NOW - do not wait.
This might be just over stimulation of nerves / migraine storm but it could signal a detached retina.
Even if not flashing now, vital to call eye doctor right now about this event. They will question you on phone for a minute before deciding if you need to be driven into their office ASAP for a visual check.
If they need to see you, please do not drive yourself. In the meantime, do not bend down and do not lift anything that requires even a little omph. -

Called eye doctors office.
Explained my symptoms.
They said since I do not have on-going symptoms, it probably is not a detached retina, as it is extremely rare. Asked if I was googling.
Anyways, they said if it happens again, they can get me in same day.

It miffs me they say a detached retina would be extremely rare -- because you did experience some symptoms of concern that all eye experts suggest called doctor about.
Just because it might be "rare" would never mean it could not happen to you. That they say that seems like they are treating you like an anxious child. But it would depend on the voice tone, I suppose. But "rare" should never be a reason to ignore symptoms.
Still, you might want to check your magnesium levels to see if they are up where they should be. And rest your eyes on and off. Soothe those muscles around your eyes.
Your toxicity load may be up, too, and that can trigger the flashes. Your liver & kidney support might need a look. Antioxidants like mangosteen that was suggested by another poster a good idea.
Infuriating, though, the contempt in their judgement over if you were checking about it before possibly wasting their time.
Would they have asked: Did you go to a library? Did you try to learn more about this so as to get a little education to know if you should then call us?
Learning should be a GOOD thing. "Google" the "internet" are places /ways to find information. Why are patients demeaned when they just want to learn? Arghgh.
A lot of doctors treat "Google" or the entire internet "library" as I call it as being full of lies when, in fact, there are some excellent educational opportunities & sites here, too.
The internet is my library.
Yet, as a computer can also cause eye strain, you might want to limit time on it - and with TV - for a while. -

I have had this happen a few times, BB, and did go to see my ophthalmologist right away after the first time it happened. It was explained to me that I was having an ocular migraine.
I never got the migraine headache that sometimes follows these and my doc told me that even she had these and I shouldn't worry as long as the symptoms go away within an hour. I think I have had a total of 4 and the last one was over a year ago.
I hope you are feeling more yourself now and these symptoms are history! (Of course, wouldn't it be nice if the rest of our symptoms went away as quickly and nicely as these!)
