We can't get away from this damned disease.

My family is very careful about ticks and lyme after my experiences this past 8 years, as well as my 10 year old daughters. We both are doing well most days, thankfully, but it has been an odyssey.

Last night after bath I found am adult, female deer tick embedded behind my 5 year old daughter's right ear.

It was difficult to get off. Pulling with the fine tipped tweezers it wouldn't budget. Finally switched to a "tick key" / "tick scoop" and it came out, but I appeared to have killed it during the process. Got the whole thing though.

I'm not sure if this is considered "Improper Removal". We didn't really squeeze the body, but definitely killed it taking it off. Is this higher risk?

We're sending out the tick for testing to Umass. $15. And started her on MC-BB-2 drops. And have called our LLMD to see if we can get her 1 month of abx / herbs.

She was bitten 3-4 years ago as well, but was treated immediately for 1 month and seems fine.

So worried she will get something this time.

Other advice?

I don't think you removed it improperly.

It's good you are getting her into a LLMD. I heard that it is important to treat within 3 weeks of being bit.

Buhner says taking astragulus helps reduce your likely hood of getting sick.

Buhner's herbs for new tick bite (astragalus, cats claw etc).

The tick could have died before you tried to pull it off, anyway... They die after biting sometimes. During the bite, and dry off.

Was it shiny or opaque? Opaque ticks are already dead. At least, that's my experience with my cats.

If you haven't squeezed the abdomen of the tick, it would be fine. You could also have smashed the head, accidentally, which is better than the abdomen, anyway.

I use tweezers and these tick 'forks' to twist.

I would try first the forks, as they don't squeeze the body first.

Counter clock wise is what usually helps us.

But sometimes the damn critters are tiny, so tiny, no fork can get them. So I use tweezers, and certainly, squeeze the whole body (as they are tiny).

Better to take them off than let them bite, anyway...

I would put strong essential oils like Olbas on the bite, 4 times a day, and bee venom topic cream, zap the place with the violet ray (if you have it), and in the night, tape a slice of garlic on the bite.

I used to do that when we were ill (except for the violet ray, that I did not know yet).

Now I'm more relaxed, as somehow we don't get anymore ill from tick bites.

Another good tincture is teasel, lots of garlic (freeze garlic or alicin pills).

I hope the tick was 'clean' though!

Tick came back completely clean for all organisms from www.tickreport.com (Umass)

I only got the $15 test (Standard DNA / RNA tests which is typically $100 but now is only $15) which looks for most organisms but not Bart or Babs Duncani. https://www.tickreport.com/pricing

Still gonnna keep her on prophylactic antibiotics and herbs.
