I'm seeing an ear nose throat MD tomorrow for what I think are allergies causing constant sinus drainage back of throat and making my voice sound hoarse constantly.

It's tiring to talk and people can't hear me.

I've read that sometimes spray steroids are prescribed. I avoid them but wondering if a spray is as bad as oral? Not sure if this would even be prescribed but want to be prepared.

Some who may use them now might not be dealing with active or persistence lyme, etc.

If for a life-threatening - or perhaps short term issue where you also are on treatment for lyme, et al . . . maybe. Nasal steroid sprays caused me a lot of worsening years back. There are many other options to consider but, ultimately, it's best to check with your LLMD if you have one . . .

or call one that you used to have just with this question.

The considerations, even with nasal steroids or topical creams:

Best allergy and sinus help I ever found. Along with a sterile saline & xylitol nasal spray.

Avoiding corn, dairy & wheat also helped me a lot to avoid phlegm build up in nasal passages, throat and lungs.

QUERCERTIN also can be of help.

STINGING NETTLE LEAF (not root) - Links set

The herb may serve to compensate for the reaction by calming the the cytokine storm that is often part of a herx reaction. -- also help with allergies.

Marz,

For some unknown reason I had a horrible, horrible reaction to nasal steroid spray that was reported to be safe enough for babies.

To this day the doc and I haven't figured out why. It happened almost immediately.

My theory is that the spray has a direct route to the brain. It was severe brain symptoms I had, which makes me thing that is what happened.

Just wanted you to be aware.

Appointment was good. He did mention steroids, but when I told him I didn't want to do them, he was okay with it and understood.

It turns out, I have inflammation around my vocal cords from reflux. I don't have GERD, it's silent reflux and he wants me to try zantac. I guess these aren't as bad as PPIs but still not liking the idea.

I've read diet is the real issue, not stomach acid.

He gave me a spray for allergies as well. I seem ok on it. Antihistamines usually make me wired but ok so far.

Thanks for all your responses!

I'm supposed to let him know how the spray antihistamine goes after a week, but the xclear sounds good Keebler and will get some then.
