I am having terrible Charlie horses that start in my toes, down the bottom of my foot and up the back of my calf. I had it last night that lasted four hours, it would go away and then come right back. Does anyone know why I would be getting these? They started a year ago when I started to get sick. thanks for any input and how to I stop them.

I just wanted to say this, the pain is so severe that it brings me to tears. Asked a few doctors, no answers.

Topic: MAGNESIUM (and other mineral considerations)

- Informational Links set

Be sure your magnesium is 3 - 4 x a day and an hour before bedtime. You should have your doctor check your INTRAmagensium blood levels, not serum.

Potassium also might be low. It's hard to get what we need in our diet but even harder - and riskier with K supplements. Best to get from food in lots of green leafy vegetables, avocados.

Search: (vegetable name), whfoods

to see they nutrients in each food. Their site search feature not that good, so go back with Google for fresh searches.

Forget bananas, though as they really don't contain that much (don't know how that rumor got started). There are much better options.

7 - 10 cups of veggies of all colors a day a good goal.

Your shoes. The kinds of support they give you really matter. 99% of sandals and flip flops can be part of the problem as well as going barefoot around the house.

thank you so much for this information and yes I wear flip flops everyday, now I won't and I was low in magnesium a few months ago. what is the best type to get

magnesium glycinate

Yes, wear sneakers and take plenty of magnesium. Do know that too much mag glycinate can cause pain from overdoing oxalates.

Well I've tried copying and pasting for 45 minutes...not working, so I will just type this out.

Types and Uses of Magnesium

Mag L-threonate for memory/concentration;crosses blood/brain barrier

Mag Malate for fatigue/fibro; help make APT

Mag Glycinate used for correcting deficiency; well tolerated

Mag Chloride/Lactate for indigestion/reflux; helps digestive enzymes

Mag Citrate mild laxative for constipation

Mag Taurate helps cardiovascular health, has a calming effect

Types of Mag to avoid, oxide, sulfate, glutamate and aspartate

thank you so much for all of this. I actually talked to my llmd today and she said get magnesium glycite, spelled that wrong, I'm sure, 400 mg. twice a day. Thanks again. Also just bought B12 sublinqual stuff that you put under your tongue, 5,000 once a day. Everything seems to be very low. Vit D. was 20 so she increased 5,000 to 10,000 a day also. Boy I hope all of this helps me soon. Feel like crap.

The vitamin D will help, if it is low. At least it did for me.
