Had a container and thought I would try it. Can't hurt me, right? OMG- four days later my head is on fire. Can't think straight and up all night. Anyone else have experience with this????

Whoa, that sounds so awful. Sorry you are dealing with that. Maybe now, drinking a good amount of water throughout the rest of the day will help. Don't flood your body, though, it might help to cool down that "heat" reaction.

Was this with just a small amount?

How do you do with coconut oil? That might be better tolerated. Raw, unrefined, organic in glass jar.

Do you have candida overgrowth at this time? That would make reaction all the more likely.

Might the coating of the capsule or additives also to be considered? The age of this? Has the bottle been in heat? If so, that can ruin it.

Guess whatever that is, though if you could take that down to a very small amount, that might help but really, IMO best to just stop this for a while until your reaction has been gone for at least a week or two then start again at tiny amounts along with lots of water.

You may have seen this in your study search, though, it also might have gotten overlooked:

Monolaurin - Dr. Josh Axe

2/3 of the way down:

. . . (section) Precautions . . . .

. . . However, you should not use monolaurin supplements or any other products that contain it if you have a coconut allergy. . . .

. . . Researchers continue to look at medicinal use and safety, but so far there aren’t any commonly occurring monolaurin side effects.

Some users may experience short-term monolaurin side effects resulting from the “die-off” effect also known as the Herxheimer reaction.

The Herxheimer reaction is when bacteria or yeast die off quickly and release toxins that can result in the following temporary symptoms:

headache, nausea, muscle pain, acne and/or skin rashes.

You may be able to avoid these symptoms by following supplement instructions that indicate starting small and gradually increasing dosages.

Speak with your health care provider before taking supplements containing this compound if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or currently take any medication.

I took the pellets- I scoop a day for 4 days. The reaction I am getting is not an allergy as I drink coconut milk all the time. It is an increase in my neurological symptoms. Thanks for your response. I will stop for a few days and hope it gets better.

Also consider if the bottle you got might have been adulterated / counterfeit. Call directly the manufacturer listed on the label. Ask to be put through to their quality control person, that you have a reaction.

Early on, especially with straight caprylic acid (also from coconut) I had terrible reactions due to candida overgrowth. I will never - ever - take caprylic acid again.

But I do not recall the severity or type of reaction you describe.

If you have a naturopathic doctor a call would be a good move. They can tell you things to help reduce that internal heat. Clue: your liver might be really pushed right now and that can cause heat patterns in the body.

Check any expiration date on bottle, too.

Hope you feel better soon, oh, my!

Thanks- I really don't think it is the product. I think it is what it did to whatever I have.

Can you drink some sea salt, warm water and a bit of organic lemon juice? Or some dandelion tea. Both are kind liver helpers.

You are not alone marie121.

1 dose of 1/4 teaspoon of Cold pressed virgin coconut oil was absolutely AWLFUL.

Never will touch the stuff again regardless of its anti baterial and antiviral properties.

Monolaurin gets rave reviews for all its great medicinal values.
It made me drooling and bedridden. Never again.

I so wish I was was able to handle it.
It's such a simple med and works so well.for so many.
Everyone reacts differently.

I’ve had a similar horrific neuro reaction to the Lauricidin brand of Monolaurin. I think I had yeast and a bunch of coinfection issues going on at the time, which just made it way too much die off at once. The doctor I was seeing advised to start that stuff with just a few pellets and slowly work up. I just cringe hearing that you were taking entire scoops. My guess is just too high a dose—start low and go slow with this one for sure, especially when yeast/SIBO/dysbiosis may be present as it sure does a number on these.

Clicked on this post bc I’ve actually been thinking about trying the Lauricidin again for gut issues I currently have, but starting up with just a few pellets of course and not being overambitious like the first time ;-) Buckling up for the ride!

I'm glad I found a way to stop having to try things that so often turned out to be way to harsh, even really damaging to my gut and causing so much pain & nausea in efforts to "kill candida" -- I lucked into a far easier and more effective way.

Of course, diet matters but that was not enough for me to get rid of all the sugars / simple carbs. Avoiding caffeine, no matter the source - and fizzy drinks, even if sugar free is also key. Still, that was not enough.

OLE came to my rescue.

For anyone dealing with candida / yeast overgrowth issues or who is taking antibiotics, I strongly suggest OLE over anything else, supplement wise, to address the issue.

OLE was so gentle yet effective for me to finally get far past candida trouble. And it offers so many other benefits. I took the Seagate brand as it has the best cultivation, gathering and processing practices outlined in links here:

Thank you- glad to know I am not alone. I was up again all night and want this to die down. I don't think I will touch it again but others found it helped them so much so that's why I took it.

Anyone know how to make this die down? Anti-inflammatories?
Posted by Bartenderbonnie (Member # 49177) on :
I am NOT advocating you do this but I took 1/2 Xanax. Waited 45 minutes for some kind of calming effect but I ended up having to take the other 1/2. I live alone, started sufferering a panic attack, almost ready to call ambulance.

I feel so sorry for you.
Is there anyone that can stay with you till it passes?

I am alone most of the time and I have diazepam. I am drinking a lot of water and just bought turmeric-900 mg. capsules. Something has to work. Thanks for your concern.

Thanks- I'm sure I have this too. Just got off of zithromax and bactrim for three weeks and now I am in bad shape. Maybe will try monolaurin again.
