Does anyone have good solutions for low iron and low magnesium?

I have been supplementing with Magnesium (anywhere from 500-1800mg/day of various forms) since a neurologist in 2010 said they could help with migraine.

Never had iron problems before, but could be because I was taking clay binders for most of this year.

Would appreciate any advice getting these values back up.

Sorry to hear. I think it can be complicated. You may want to find a Facebook group that is devoted to raising iron levels.

Liver (from well tended animals) is the best source, not just of iron but also for other minerals.

Their beef liver is excellent (still, I do best putting it in my blender and turning into a Pâté . As is their Braunschweiger and liverwurst. Great ingredient list.

And, yes, indeed - the clay binders or anything like that (Cholestyramine is the worst, IMO - it really clobbered me in terrible ways - and it also captured even good fats which my brain needed) - best to avoid.

That most likely prevents most nutrients from getting into the body.

I find chlorella, spirulina and cilantro to be excellent substitutes for any blinders regarding heavy metal recovery.. And, they each have good nutrients as well and should not block needed fat absorption.

Mountain Rose Herbs is a good place to find those.

Sorry, I'm not up on mold issues but excellent question. Fortunately, my apt. is in good shape regarding that.

Chorella, Spirulina &/or cilantro might be of help. I'll post links in next box.

Mushrooms might - just a thought since they can really clean up a lot of toxins from the earth / polluted sites. And they have wonderful nutrients and healing properties.

Though, don't go overboard as salicylate content can be high in some. But a little bit goes a long way.

Paul Stamets is the person to ask on that one. Their website is very helpful with both research and also the folks on the phone who are great with all my questions on other matters of mushrooms.

& Mountain Rose Herbs in Oregon has a couple different kinds of powdered mushrooms.


Mold expert: Perhaps Lisa Nagy would know. Her website, or maybe call her office. She seems more well rounded regarding nutrients and also not using things that will block nutrients.

The other Dallas source might have great suggestions, too, yet likely will be busy today with the impending storm coming their way.
