I started the tinctured Japanese knotweed on Saturday. Did 3 drops a day then yesterday did a teaspoon.

I've been exhausted, lots of sweating and burning in the palms of my hands. No Temp though.

Im getting headaches every morning upon waking up. The fatigue seems almost debilitating at times.

Is this a normal herx? My LLMD wants me on it for Bartonella.

Thanks 💚

sounds very much like a herx

typical herx for me is
fatigue,
headache,
aching all over,
disturbed sleep,
tingling or burning sensations

knotweed is not generally regarded as one of the herbs that causes the strongest herx - but everyone is different so just start with what you can tolerate and only gradually increase

I assume it was from the JK because when I added a teaspoon that's when things got worse so I cut back to only 3 drops.

Not as bad as it was last week but no overall improvement. Going on almost 6 weeks with the Macrobid and my LLMD said I'd have to be on it for 2 months.

OK thats concerning because heading into week 6 with nothing?

I just had to up my Zoloft dose too with no change.

I had really bad reaction to JK, it's was AWLFUL.
Stopped taking it. I take resvervatrol now, which is the active ingrediate in JK. But make sure the resvervatrol comes from JK ( Polygonum cuspidatum).

We suffer enough so we have to try to find what works for us.
Trial and error every step of the way unfortunately.

Bonnie it's been horrible. My body pain is back and my fatigue has grown. Like I mentioned, not sure if this is even a herx anymore ( and yes I'm detoxing)

Kristyn, I think Stephen Buhner was the first to recommend knotweed as a treatment for lyme and cos. He is a very respected herbalist.

His take is that herxing is very bad for the body, and could do damage. He recommends going very slowly, to where you see improvement, but no herx.

He says some people need a lot, and others only a tiny amount. Each person is different. Don't assume it is bad for you, because of the herx. It could only be bad if you are allergic to it.

Back off of it for a while, and then start slowly. Start with one drop per day and gradually increase to one drop two times per day, etc.

It has helped me a lot. Especially in the beginning. It was the first treatment I used, and could not believe how much it helped.

Hello Kristyn:

I have also just started JK and had to stop taking it as well. I started on a high does and doubled it and within 2 days was in so much pain I could barely stand. I have stopped it now but I am in so much pain once again.

Does anyone have any suggestions to lower the pain? My legs, back and neck are very affected. The pain is terrible.

I am adding in some green tea and milk thistle. I am wondering what everyone suggests.
