my cholesterol went up last year for the first time in my life.

it is a bit higher now...

I know lyme ppl or whatever have high cholesterol( not uncommon, is what I mean) , but I also have slow clotting blood and the markers for heart attacks.

how much do I need to worry here?

I don't want to take statins.

I am on a pretty good diet. although I do enjoy the occasional chip or beef or cheese.

im not considered overweight either, in case you are wondering. [Wink]

my recent test:
Cholesterol 284
LDL 172

and this one that scares me most:
Lipoprotein 231.6

lyme and several of the co-infections cause damage to the cells that make up the lining of our blood vessels ( Bart, Myco, Chlamydia, Rickettsia etc )

or body responds by pumping out lots of cholesterol - as its intended function is to flug these damaged holes in teh blood vessels lining as a temporary measure until teh body can heal them.

however long-term infection causes an ongoing increase in low-density cholesterol which is the kind that build up in our arteries and causes issues.

the solution is of course to treat lyme and co-infections but in the meantime, there are herbs that help protect the body from exactly this kind of damage.

according to Buhner the best ones for this are (from memory)
salvia M/ Dan Shen
Japanese Knotweed
a few others i forget at the moment

i also have high cholesterol and am taking these herbs while i treat lyme and co - which seems to reduce it somewhat

Well afaik, estrogen dominance can cause hypothyroid, which can cause higher ldl. I have all 3 of these so I think may all be related.

My husband takes policosanol, per our doctors instructions for high cholesterol.

There are 2 kinds of plaques , hard plaques and soft plaques. Cholesterol accumilates because there are hard plaques that it gets caught in.

Doctors treat you for high Cholesterol but they should be treating for calcification instead.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4-E48eNvxk&feature=emb_logo

They way I treated for calcification is by taking sulfa compounds > Alpha lipoic acid, MSM and NAC.

With the lyme complex then you have calcification problems because bartonella calcifies your system.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14759468

“Role of Bartonella henselae endocarditis in the nucleation of aortic valvular calcification.”

One of the things Dr K has said is that a symptom he looks for with lyme patients is high blood pressure.

(editing out LLMD name per Lymenet T&C)

I recently got a lecture from the dental school about my blood pressure going up!

Garz, can you remember some of those other herbs?!

Willy, do you know what Dr K does about elevated blood pressure?

buhner lists the following for endothelial cell protection in his Bartonella and mycoplasma book
-EGCG with quercetin
-L-arginine
-Japanese Knotweed ( he says this is the most important)

in his later books he highlights Salvia M / dan Shen for the same purpose

No Robin , I don't know what Dr K uses.

This is what I use , and still take to keep my vascular system cleean.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24519127

"Lipoic acid, but not tempol, preserves vascular compliance and decreases medial calcification in a model of elastocalcinosis."

That's this one;

https://www.bio-alternatives.net/ALA.htm

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18356775

"Atherosclerosis and vascular calcification in uraemia - a new experimental model."

"The relative proportion of the calcified area to the total surface area of both atherosclerotic lesions and lesion-free vascular tissue was increased in the aortic root of uraemic apoE-/- mice when compared with controls. The accelerated atherosclerosis was associated with an increase in aortic nitrotyrosine expression, indicating enhanced oxidative stress, and an increase in plaque collagen content, indicating changes in plaque composition. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) treatment slowed the rapid progression of atherosclerotic lesions and reversed the increase in plaque collagen content compared with placebo treatment."

That's this one...

https://www.iherb.com/pr/Doctor-s-Best-NAC-Detox-Regulators-60-Veggie-Caps/41653

and this...

https://nutrientssolutions.com/5-ways-msm-transforms-your-health/

"5 Ways MSM Transforms Your Health"

"MSM dissolves calcium deposits by converting them to calcium sulfate, which your body then easily excretes."

So i still take all 3 and also Co Q10 twice a day to give energy to my heart.

The nice thing about using both the sulfur and co q10 is that the sulfur cleans out your arteries so there is less demand on your heart and the co q10 gives your heart the energy it needs.

The other complication that works together with this approach is that when you have something that will kill the lyme complex then a lot of infected RED blood cells will also get killed and a low RBC count is anemia . RBC's carry oxygen to tissues and your heart and dispose of carbon dioxide too . Your heart likes oxygenated blood.

So for anemia this is the bomb...

https://www.integrativepro.com/products/iron-complex

Taking that stuff I feel pretty good. Getting to the point where my heart was stabalized though was an adventure. My heart jumped around like a monkey on a jungle gym because I had a lot to get rid of, not only the lyme complex but also the stage 4 cancer it caused. When you attack that stuff it releases a lot of toxins and your heart responds to your blood chemistry.

The nice thing about the sulfer compounds is that they ALSO upregulate your glutathione system so you detox arre the toxins better.

I do know Dr K uses MCT oil to treat the Bart. I use something similar which I've gotten good results from called Lauricidin.

hope that help.
