Hi,

I've had bart and babs for over 10 years now and have been off abx for quite some time. I maintain a comfortable existence by keeping the critters at bay with various herbs. I have though lately developed a gradual streaking rash on both my inner thighs and while my overall symptoms haven't spiked in an alarming way, I don't sit well with the new bart streaks. I'm tempted to call my LLMD back up and pay an arm and a leg for a consultation and some abx to squash the rash but was wondering if anyone knew of any topical treatments to apply to the skin where it has appeared. Thanks. Be well.

i have never heard of the bart streaks being treated topically - i think they just tend to fade with time

if you are concerned about scaring - you could try applying a herbal antimicrobial topically - as at least it is unlikely to do any harm. i use tinctures like this sometimes and it helps a little with other Bart driven skin issues. eg papules.

you could try berberine containing herbs
like mahonia. or perhaps Sida - both strong antimicrobials. or perhaps houttuynia - since its active for bart.

failing that - lauric acid has some anti-bart properties - coconut oil has high content of lauric acid - and its safe to put on your skin so that may be worth a go.

let us know how you get on

I am not aware of any topical treatments for the red streak rash from Bartonellosis. My son had them horizontally across his back (waist area), and it was treated with abx.

I am not a doctor, but I think you may have been re-infected or Bart has not been fully eradicated, so a consult with your LLMD is definitely warranted. Can't play around with stuff like this!!!

Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.

To do this click the "Edit Post" tab, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
