I am pretty sure it's my lyme and possibly my MCAS that are ruining my GI system. Im pretty sure my mcas is much worse with my now again active lyme and propelling the damage through my body, but

I am giong to stick with lyme talk for this.
I have been at this for decades now. live was affected but now my BW for liver enzymes is almost back to normal. My cholesterol went shooting up this past year.

I was eating a lot of high fat foods becasue I had a "summer of icecream" haha. but Ialso have high lipoprotein a - the genetic cholesterol.

I am just wondering if anyone else has liver issues with how it processes fats/etc. that might be affecting us with lyme and cos. and what can be done besides taking a statin????

also anything else helpful for the GI system organs? I already do the basic stuff like diet right and al that. I also detox daily, etc. ''

I think I need to really get info on saving my organse at this point. making them more efficient, etc??

Do you take milk thistle for the liver? LLMD had me on that from the start.

https://www.webmd.com/hepatitis/milk-thistle-liver

I take the main ingredient of milk thistle called silymarin and I use the company Metagenics.

I support the recommendation to take milk thistle. It protects the liver, heals the liver, and displaces harmful biota.

Two LLMDs have told me to keep taking it.

The only objective reason I know is that the first time I took it, after a month, my eyes went from gray/green to blue. I can't explain it, but it must be good.

I used to take milk thistle also. Now I'm too sensitive to it and I react to it.

Lisa, I think your organs are fine, they are just very reactive. The best thing to do is avoid the foods that you react to the most.

It's frustrating for sure.

I have had a gallbladder issues in the past so much so that they recommended removing it.

Castor oils packs really helped.

Also this supplement help as well.

daisys! eyes changing from green is good! Supposedly green eyes are a huge indicator that you hold onto heavy metals. meaning that the metals make your eyes green.

I take milk thistle, but not by itself. it is in a few of my supplements that are combined.

I have been doing a tiny bit of reading and I think from all my test results and info along from the genetic guy I see, that my liver doesn't process properly. its not so much that its gunked up,

but that it doesn't function properly. I do also now feel gallbladder pain - or something in my back . if I eat high fatty meal I can feel the pain under my right rib.

this doesn't happen often.

but the liver pain (which I know isn' t truly the liver, but the biliary) pretty much went away, but now my pain is in the back on the right in ribs. and it's like a burning pain. I am giong to tell GI I think. maybe its my kidney?

Thank you, Lisa! I wondered if I would just be considered fanciful about my eyes changing colors.

They are still blue but not as striking as at first. So, that can be a good barometer--check the eye color for liver health! Who'd a thunk?

the eyes tel us so much about health. there are drs called iridologists who use eyes to diagnose illness and increase wellness. [Smile]

I went to an iridologist many years ago. This was before anyone knew about Lyme disease.

She put down many, many diseases to the point that she started having a crisis of confidence.

I think LD gave me markings in every area of my iris.

Also, I now know that stress can show up in the eyes, and wonder if that's what she saw.

oh wow. mine kept telling me lyme didn't show up much in my eyes. and she also said I was overall very healthy, haha. makes me wonder

she did turn me on to the foot cleansing though, and THAT was a Godsend!

LisaK, What exactly do you do for foot cleansing?

I'd like to try it, but have read of so many different options, I never got started.

Lisa, have you tried NAC? I've been taking 1000mg per day for a while now.

This year after doing so GOOD health wise, I developed my 3rd autoimmune illness. Well this really upset everything. Absolute nightmare!

So 2 weeks ago after doing some research, I decided to up my NAC to 2000mg. I also added back in MSM at 2000mg a day.

Two days later, I herxed so hard, which is something I'd not done in a long long time. It only last about 48 hrs.

But on the other side....I felt better than I had in months. NAC helps regulate the immune system plus so much more like Liver & kidneys support.

Also your thyroid nodule concerns....Lyme & co can /will do a number on the thyroid & the hormones produced by the thyroid. A Lyme patient without enough of the T3 thyroid hormone, is the walking dead.

Foot cleanse- uses IONS and you put your feet in a foot tub (like a at home foot soak bin) and it is hooked up to a machine and it draws out your toxins/bile/cholesterol and other fun stuff. If I knew how to post pictures here I'd show you my before and afters.

Ideally the water should stay as clear as possible.

mine was full of black/brown, gunk and white foam with green specks and red flakes, and all kinds of good stuff, haha.

I took my son with me once who is an alcoholic and his water was so much better than mine- I couldn't believe it! but I was v thankful since he wsa born with lyme from me.

MAP- NAC - is that N acytal cistine? (sorry about spelling)
my genetic counsellor said I cannot take a lot of that becasue it might kill me!
he meant in large amounts, but I am afraid to take it on my own. It is in one or two of my supplements in a low dose.

What you are saying is sometihing I need to think about though! there is so much I need to be thinking about, haha, but my brain can't remember anything and I can't (still) rememebr to srite things down and look at them later either, or I lose my notebook!

I have like 10 lyme notebooks around here somewhere. im in the middle of organizing my house since I couldn't do that for a decade and there is just so much.

Dr. have checked my thyroid levels in regular serum tests for ever. I went to an endocrinologist years ago and was tole " there is no way you are sick- you look too good"- she literally said that to me.

I could feel my changes and knew there was something giong on.

Dr. after dr. suspects thyroid issues and none do anything beyond checking my (always normal) levels. it;s completely maddening . and now that I have dodules they listen somewhat.

I bet if my breast BX comes back as cancer they will start perking up their ears at that thyroid. but maybe not even then. im so fed up with all of them.

I wish so hard I could read and retain like I used to be able to , but I forget everything since I went into hypermode with nervous sytem off kilter and MCAS took over.

im trying now to work on balancing all that stuff and just started acupuncture which has really given me new hope! I can feel my brain clearing up some and my fight/flight response is better some already. im super excited
