I was recently diagnosed with Lyme, although I was probably infected in 1999. I live in Los Angeles and my closest LLMD is Dr. G in Thousand Oaks. Does anyone here see Dr. G? What are your thoughts?
I also got an appointment with Dr. H in Nevada City (at the urging of my primary care MD), but he is only seeing new patients in Nevada City or Palo Alto, and not at his Malibu office. I don't want to have to travel so far for my follow-up appointments... but I know that Dr. H is supposed to be the best. Is he worth such a long trip when I have a LLMD who is much closer to me (and in my insurance network)?????
Thanks all for your opinions!

I see Dr. H and fly in from out of state. You could do follow-ups in Malibu. I don't know anything about Dr. G but I really like Dr. H and think he and his staff are fantastic!

For the record, as I understand it, Dr. H only sees patients who are on IV in his Malibu office. This is what a new patient of Dr. H's was told.

If at all possible, I think I would see both of them before making a decision.
I am impressed with your primary. I have yet to meet a primary who knows a lyme specialist or about lyme for that matter.
I see Dr. H in Malibu. Is it possible for you to fly via Angel Flight to his Nevada Office?
If I were Dr. H, I would most likely stop traveling and just see patients out of the main office.
I am expecting this to happen soon.
The Amtrak Train is also a good resource. I recalled looking into traveling that way but can't recall the outcome.

I am not on IV an was told that I could make an appointment in Malibu, I haven't but was told it was an option.

My lyme brain seems to vaguely recall that that may have to do with coming from so far away - Hawaii, I assume.
