Hi, I Am an adult female living in Pennsylvania. I had a tick when I was pregnant with my son 14 years ago. I was given medication immediately by my midwife(can't remember what, but am trying to find out)and I developed EM soon after that lasted many many weeks.
Since then I have developed many symptoms of fatigue, headaches, etc, and noticed a definite decrease in my cognitive ability over the last 24 months.
I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and basically told by several drs that they don't know what is going on with me. I have had the same (typical) blood work done at least 4 times as they keep checking me for Lyme, but each time it is negative and each dr. then tells me I don't have it.
I recently, this past week, had a terrible ordeal with a very light case of shingles accompanied by strange neurological symptoms such as crying and laughing uncontrollably, trouble walking, saying funny things, etc. with a headache and complete weakness and fatigue.
I have also had an increase in food allergies over the years and I am basically (tested) allergic to almost every food there is. - not sure that has anything to do with Lyme.
I have so many symptoms, but I will not list them all to save time here...
I have a tremendous amount of stress in my life and I am aware that stress can cause many symptoms, etc. I am not sure I have Lyme, but the more I read I am thinking that I may. I just want this to stop.

Was Rhogam the medicine your midwife gave you? It would have been an injection in the hip or thigh.
Was your EM in the same place where you received the injection, and how many hours/days after did the rash occur?

I did not have an injection. They gave me packets of pills- they were in blister packs. I think they were large pils. I think I took 1, 2 or 3 a day for only a few days (maybe a week). The meds gave me terrible uncontrollable BMs.
The site of the EM was exactly where the tick was.

Pa. is a large state. Are you in the center of the state or near the Maryland border? If so, I will send you some names. Many from that area come to Maryland or D.C. for their treatment.
I must say that everything about your story screams lyme disease. I am sure you have it. It is so very, very common for the tests to come back negative and for the person to be given the fibromyalgia diagnosis. In fact, fibro is the most common misdiagnosis a lyme patient receives.
Why not read the list of lyme symptoms in the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines and you will see how many you have. The Guidelines are here:
Any good lyme doctor would put you on a trial of lyme treatment based on the story you have. I believe your life would turn around. Do not blame your symptoms on stress. Many have been treated very badly by doctors when their blood tests all come back normal. That is par for the course for a lyme patient, in fact.
My lyme disease went undiagnosed for at least 10 years. I went from doctor to doctor. They offered me antidepressants or treated me like a mental case. Finally, after 10 years a doctor thought to test me for lyme disease. So sorry this has happened to you!
You are very wise to come here in search of a doctor who specializes in this disease. It will be a no-brainer for such a doc. It will likely make you very angry at all the past doctors you have seen.
Our doctors have all been mis-educated about lyme disease. That is why they are all missing the diagnosis. Once a doctor gets lyme himself, he then researches it for himself and often then becomes a specialist in lyme disease. These docs are few and far between, but when you finally go to one, it will be like dying and going to heaven! You will be heard, understood, and believed! You will be so comfortable that you will even dare to tell the really weird symptoms that you usually won't mention.
Once I got to a good lyme doctor, I got rid of my disease(s). That was over 8 years ago now, and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. I have the same life I had before lyme disease.
I would love to help you find a good doctor and get this turned around. Let us know where you are in PA !!!
