Hello,
I am looking for an LLMD and lyme friendly psychiatrist in the Chicago area. I have been treating lyme off and on for 10 years, and was treated in the past by Dr. C in MO and a Dr. in another state.

I have recently moved to help my mom out with a lung cancer diagnosis which makes traveling not possible. I know IL is not great with lyme drs, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for a lyme-friendly psychiatrist. Thank You in advance!

Welcome to Lymenet! None in Chicago. PM sent for IL.

I don't know of any LL Psychiatrists in IL. Ask the LLMDs' offices if they can refer you to somepne.

Read www.thehumansideoflyme.net written by a now-retired LL Psychiatrist from the East Coast. Lyme disease can cause psychiatric problems as well as physical ones.

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in earlier by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/illinoislyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Group info):

Dr. H, the top LLMD, has written a new book entitled, Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check the local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Wanted to say thanks for the dr recommendations. Had an appt. with a LLMD in my area last week. My moms condition is more stable now, and may look outside the state now as I was not put on any abx for now.
