Hello! I'm 21, and I tested positive for a TBD this summer.

I know I had been tested for Lyme previously (a year and a half ago) and that it was negative.

I do not know which test it was, but I believe it was either done by Quest or Baystate.

After I tested positively for Relapsing-Fever my GP back home in FL put me on doxycycline for a month with very minimal improvement.

I've had symptoms (mostly neuro, but arthritic pain as well) for 2.5 years.

I'm looking for a LLMD in Northampton MA or very close to it as I'm in school here and do not drive to run further tests for Lyme and to treat the Relapsing Fever.

Thank you!

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for MA & CT.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease and its complex treatment!

Testing should be done through IGenex Labs in Palo Alto, CA.

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/massachusettslyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
