I was diagnosed in 2010 and have been treated by three different specialists since then. I had been relatively stable and functional for a while, but I've had a major relapse the past several weeks. My main symptoms are persistent, severe fatigue and muscle aches (along with brain fog). I'm seeking a new doctor. The last one I saw (in the Tampa area) had retired.
I live in Lakeland.
Thanks.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for FL.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When you call for an appointment, ask if there are any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FloridaLyme/info

Maybe they can help you.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups):
www.lyme-aware.org/florida.html

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Florida/

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw -please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.

Thanks!

greenjean - you should write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one. That way, more people will see it and respond because most don't re-read old posts.

PM sent for FL (not in Tampa area).
