Do you have a positive just on band 41? Are all of the other bands negative? On both tests?

Do you also have symptoms of lyme?

I ask because lyme doctors are very expensive. And, the symptoms are all important--moreso than the test results.

Doctors diagnose lyme mostly based on symptoms. See the symptom list on pages 9-11 of the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines found here:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

With test results like yours, you want to have some clear lyme symptoms before spending the big bucks to get the opinion of a lyme doctor.

My husband was tested for lyme by an outstanding lab (Igenex in California--they specialize in tick-borne diseases). He had a positive just on band 41. He had no lyme symptoms.

That test was done 11 1/2 years ago and my husband is still as healthy as ever. He has never gotten sick with lyme.

Viraj13 - there's a possibility that you might have the co-infection babesia - what with your fainting and sinking feeling.

My initial symptoms after being bitten were actually from babesia - anxiety, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, heat intolerance, and night sweats.

I am sending you a pm!

I sent you the name of a NJ doctor. But, since my info on her is old, contact some lyme support groups and see what they are currently saying about her.

See Support Groups on the left side of this page.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CT.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NewJerseyLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
