Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate help in finding a good LLMD in South Florida. Thanks!

Welcome to Lymenet!

Sorry, but I don't know of any in southern FL.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

Check the FL State Lyme Groups. Maybe they can help - they would know better about FL.

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy them used online.

You can request an LLMD through ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) here;

https://www.ilads.org/patient-care/provider-search/

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;

https://globallymealliance.org/education-awareness/find-medical-professional/

These are simple e-mail formats that you fill out and they will respond with the closest LLMD's in your area. You must be aware that it is up to you, the patient, to research each Doctor that is refered to you. To do this, google for patient reviews or connect with your area's Lyme support groups that Hopingandpraying provided to you in the about thread.

Good luck to you.
