Is Stony Brook Lyme Clinic a recommended treatment facility? I read on their website that they abide by IDSA guidelines. I'm shocked but wanted to know if anyone has any insight as to their standing as real LLMDs.
Thank you.

I don't have any current information about them.

Here is an old thread for you to read:

Contact the NY Lyme Support Groups - they would know better about NY.

Thanks- I did see the info in the link you posted.
Stony Brook used to be more progressive many years ago, I was just wondering what happened to them.
Recently in fact, in trying to help other people find help, I'm noticing an uptick of GP/ID providers who won't even do basic prophylactic treatment.

While some things have advanced, some things are rolling back into bad and negligent practices.
Like in 2004, I went to a prominent HIV/AIDS specialist looking for an answer as to why I was so sick. When I mentioned Lyme, he threw me out of his office saying, "Lyme is in the courts. You probably have AIDS, you should go get tested." That's a direct quote.
I feel like these newbies are getting this kind of vibe.
It's alarming.
Thanks again.

Got it. I know about that LLMD.
Thanks.
Would you happen to know a Lyme-friendly
(not LLMD) GP/Internist in NYC?
This is the hardest of all to find.
Thanks again.

No I do not. Contact the NYC Lyme Support Group - maybe they would know of someone.

Yes, Grace, from what our local group has ascertained, Stonybrook is NOT good at this point, sadly. I know that their lab used to be considered sort of good, but I wonder now, since the tide seems to have turned. It was never Igenex.

I have a good GP who is not against Lyme. I can't say if he is Lyme friendly per se, but not against it. I could PM you, if you want. He tends to be a bit booked up, but is supportive.

Hi Rumigirl-
I've also been getting input about Stony Brook from other channels and no one is in favor of them.
It's a shame because they are centrally located with great facilities in one of the most endemic areas.

Sure, I'd love a GP recommendation. I'll see if they take insurance and where they are located. You can PM me.

Thank you.
