Trevor G Marshall, PhD (Chairman) (Thousand Oaks, CA)
Trevor's first teaching post was at the University of Technology in Lae, Papua New Guinea, during 1974. He taught at Curtin University, in Western Australia, during the rest of the 70's. Following up on his Masters degree in 1978, he commenced PhD studies at the University of Western Australia, home to Barry Marshall (no relation) (of Helicobacter Pylori fame).
Clinical studies were with Tim Welborn and Ted Keogh at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia and Mike Albisser's group at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
In 1982 he moved to the USA, and now lives in California. His PhD thesis "Mathematical Modelling of the Insulin Glucose Homeostasis in Diabetic and Healthy Individuals" was accepted in 1985. For most of the succeeding decades he was CEO of YARC Systems, specializing in high-tech Internet Publishing.
Over the last few years Trevor has been defining the biochemical roles of the steroid hormones Angiotensin II and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin-D in immune disease. In 2002 he published a complete etiological description for Sarcoid Inflammation, and his current interest is in understanding how this same hormonal/bacterial pathogenesis might drive other Rheumatic and Cardiac diseases.
He sent me to this site dose it say what his phd is in?????
Heres another link related to him. http://www.jupiterevents.com/80211/fall03/marshall.html
It is a PhD. A PhD is a PhD.
Most of my thesis describes clinical work in diabetes. My research and
publications at that time also describe (successful) research in
Cryptochidism and Infertility, including diabetes. You really shouldn't be
trying to characterize a PhD thesis other than what it is, a PhD
demonstrating research expertise in a specialty field. The 3 examiners were
a Bioengineer from Australia, the head of the Biomedical Research Dept at
Toronto's Hospital for Sick Kids, and an Academic M.D. from Israel.
A researcher is best described by his/her publications and the acclaim they
have generated. Focus on them. All of them, hundreds. In a wide variety of
scientific endeavors. They define my contribution most succinctly.

3. Yes, I am a hard man to put 'in a box'.
In January I wrote a chapter for a book on antenna design, an article on
Linux for C/C++ journal, and a paper on Autoimmune disease on the
invitation of a European Medical Journal (it is currently "in press").
Strange combination I guess, but basically I have been lucky enough to do
whatever I like, wherever my mind leads me.

In my opinion he avoided answering me very well. A PHD. Is PHD my butt.

I do not want to see anyone hurt because and (not just the benicar debate) but any protocol passed as a matter of fact in the medical community. We, Us, all need to look out for each other.
So with that Iam tired of trying to help now anyone else is welcome to pitch in.TATA Toot A Looooo

How are you helping at all. Starting the Benicar protocol involves the doctor and patient relationship. It has nothing to do with you. It's just information that is flowing into the medical community.

People...he was ill, has a PHD in an unrelated field, is researching this protocol (model), and has probably WANTED it to get to this point of interest. So that MORE MD's would actually have a trial on it.
Do you realize....it was Scott that brought this over here..and NOT Trevor Marshal? It is what Scott had said HE was looking for, and researching....and BINGO...he found it...it's just that someone who has a PHD found it.
Remember the "OIL" that cures kids of a terrible disease...their parents found it...not a MD.
All I see Tree accomplishing here is the same thing as JRW...
CHARACTER assassination...plain and simple.
He isn't hiding ANYTHING.
My Gosh....get A LIFE...he's NOT DR Bachynsky.
Trout
PS...I myself CAN NOT go on this protocol right now and just want to see some results...stop clouding the issue..
WHy isn't anybody going after.....
TXMOM, JRW, CRime Of Lyme, Semper, Trout, Skyking, Tutu, Tincup, etc?
[This message has been edited by troutscout (edited 13 May 2004).]
It's available now, so of course it's FDA approved. Are you concerned about off-label usage? It's already widely practiced and obviously for a good reason.
I'm glad you're done because I am too. I hope to see you on Benicar if it proves safe and effective too.

But, I was fortunate, after my late husband's bout with Lukemia and an unrelated bone marrow transplant (18th in the country to have one), to have gotten a job as the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator at a rather large and greatly respected Cancer Research and Treatment Center.
Did I have a medical background? NO. But, I did extensive work toward my husband's transplant. After he passed away I was offered this job.
Did the patients know that I had no formal medical education? NO.
At the time I was the only non-nurse BMT Coor. in the country. In the early 90's there were only a handful of us coordinators.
My point being, it made no difference whether I had a nursing degree or not, I had already learned the curve of what was nesscessary to get a patient from diagnosis to a transplant. Why? Because I submerged myself in the subject of Leukemia and transplants.
Was it a formal education? NO. But, it was an education.
I see Trevor as doing the same thing, he's obviously a very smart guy and he has studied this very throughly and now has a self-education on this subject.
Please leave this alone, you who are questioning the point of whether Trevor's PhD is in whatever or not is really a mute point.
Haven't we even had President's running the greatest country in the world without a formal education?
Think about this you are really being silly about this PhD thing. What is your education?
Rosemary
I am not against it as I am being portrayed Iam for anything that is safe and studied and used in the context it was created for.
By people in the medical field ie LLMD or scientist doing double blind studies correctly. As in the norm.
With that said roseisland 2000 take it if you want benicar that is and I hope it works for you
But Ill wait and see before I swallow it untill more studies are done and I am very interested in it also.

Most of us here, even the newbies, are intelligent enough to distinguish between enthusiasm for a promising new treatment and respect for a tried-and-true treatment, so I really don't know who you think you're trying to help or protect.
Though I appreciate your concern, I would encourage you to get back to patrolling the woods and stop trying to dig up dirt on people who are testing new and POSSIBLY effective treatments for lyme.

Look up the bios of successful people and you will see that many of them, if they even have a degree, have degrees that are not directly related to their current area of success.
In general, someone who achieves a PhD, no matter what discipline it is in, demonstrates an inquisitive mindset and above-the-norm energy for finding reasoned answers and solutions.
