Most of the time, her fever hovers around 100, but about 1 week out of every 4-6 weeks it jumps up to 102 or more and she misses several days of school. Last year she was on home-bound status from November-April. Sometimes her fever spikes seem to correlate to introduction of a new anti-biotic, but not always. Right now she is on an anti-viral and temps are running around 101+. She has gotten to where she can function pretty well as long as her fevers are under 101. Her other symptoms include sore throat and ears, joint pain, severe neck and back pain, sensitivity to light, headache, ADD, moodiness, balance issues, short-term memory loss, twitching and trembling(occassional) and a few other minor problems.
I would like opinions as to whether or not this prolonged fever is all coming from the TBD's or possibly something else. She has been on orals for over a year and had been on alotof abx at lower doses the previous year. Our LLMD seems to be getting a little concerned. Recently had CT scans of chest and abdomen which were normal and tests for viral infections which came out negative. Are there other sources of the fever we need to test for to rule out or should we assume the fever is all coming from the Lyme/Bart? This has gone on for so long and we are feeling quite desparate for answers. Any opinions would be most welcome and appreciated!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
Suzy

Has she seen Dr Jones?

I have repeatedly tried to get through to Dr. Jones via telephone, and waited on hold for about 30 minutes long distance on a couple of occassions. Maybe I should try again. I was told Dr. C in PA is good with kids and very thorough - on her waiting list.
I thought that after a year of treatment we would be making more progress on the fever. I keep wondering if some kind of brain involvement could have messed up her internal thermostat which is located in the hypothalmus. Maybe I'm just being a worry-wort mom.
Thanks for your input!!
