Kara,

Thanks for searching out this week's lyme in the news articles for us. It is appreciated.

I was scanning this article and didn't understand this part:
http://www.newportdailynews.com/articles/2005/07/30/news/news2.txt

"Speaking on behalf of her neighbors, Anne Lane said she has found deer ticks on herself and her granddaughter on several occasions and currently is on medication to prevent Lyme disease."

Medication to prevent Lyme? Do you think the writer misconstrued that? The only vaccine I know of out there at present is found over seas.

I have a friend from Austria that is planning to have her family vaccinated when they go back to vacation in Austria soon.

My friend has used the vaccine available in Austria without any trouble in the past.

Unlike our Lymerix, it seems to be administered without any problems according to my friend.

I was just wondering what the lady was taking to "prevent lyme". Wouldn't we all like to know of something?

Anyone else catch that part of the article?

Thanks again Kara. I always like seeing the lymie news. I know it takes a lot of effort for you to find these for us.

I would assume that her doctor has given her antibiotics as a prevention. Something that is done all the time for HIV patients, but frowned on for everyone else.

And you are most welcome.

Kara
