It was so interesting to see why all of these new diseases are epidemic and how they came about.
It is the scariest movie you will ever see. Scarier than "the Omen" because it's REAL!
It was an AMAZING, STARTLING, and SAD but hopeful movie that EVERYONE MUST SEE!

I just want to add my vote to this. The movie was fantastic. And very inspiring.
One point he made struck home as a Lyme patient. He said that when people first hear about a terrible problem they deny it. When they stop denying , they move to a position of despair - feeling that they can do nothing about the problem
He says they skip right over the step of trying to do something about the problem!!
ALthough, it may be human nature, we can't let that happen to us as Lyme patients.
Right now we are on the verge of losing two of our doctors - one of them the only pediatrician for Lyme.
Please check out the threads here about what you can do.
Don't deny what will happen if Dr. Jones cannot afford adequate legal representation. He will lose his license. We will lose the only Lyme pediatrician we have - leaving all other pediatricians with the message that they should stay away from Lyme lest they also become targets.
And seeing Gore's movie will give you extra incentive to become an activist. Ellen

Just left the theatre having seen this film, and I agree. This movie is a must-see!
Also, the similar mind-set of denial and distraction that occur both in the case of global warming and the Lyme fiasco is stunning.
Loved the quotation about it being hard to understand something if getting your pay check depends on your not understanding it.
I'm going to buy the DVD as soon as possible and rewatch this regularly. Everything depends on our being able to "get" this and take corrective action!

The global warming isn't caused by cars.
It is caused by the destruction of trees,the Amazon being the most important.
Yet everyone I know except me that buys a wooded lot cuts allmost all the trees down ,plants worthless blue grass and nukes it with yard chems.
Trees change carbon dioxide into oxygen and they are like giant airconditioners.

As so often turns out to be the case, it is not a matter of "either/or" (trees or cutting vehicle emissions) its "both/and" (both cutting vehicle emissions and needing more trees)
If you care about your home planet, please, everyone, get involved. To start with, you can check to see if your city has signed the Kyoto treaty. If not, find out what you can do to make it happen. Also, we can check out our own life choices and see if they are in alignment with planetary health, and if not, work towards making changes. Takes some effort, but we dare not stay napping.

everything is a double-edged sword -- think about this -- they blame the spread of Lyme in the northeast on the growing deer pop. fueled by re-forestation.

spiral ~ while the deer do transport the ticks, it's not the deer population we should be as worried about. Forests are getting cut down to make room for more and more developments/housing, scaring away fox and the other predators of mice, who are the ones who actually carry and transmit borrelia.
This disruption of the natural ecosystem is why Lyme is proliferating at such a rapid rate, especially in the suburbs. At my parents suburban house in CT, the yard is INFESTED with ticks and they don't live right near a forest. I pull more ticks off our dogs from them just lying in the open grass for 10 min there than when they walk through the woods.
Each year it's getting worse and worse and it's our own fault. Very scary.
Oh, and where was this Al Gore in 2000??

I remember when I was young they said we were gradually cooling and were doomed then!!
How much pollution control happens in China?? I heard zero control, thick black smog everywhere, and difficulty breathing.
Do we accept this as gospel fact because we saw it in a movie???
Do we have natural heating and cooling cycles in nature, naturally???

Here is the link for Al Gore being on Larry King Live last night to discuss his book, etc. I have NOT read this to see if LYME DISEASE was mentioned or not.
I didn't go in(before seeing the movie)thinking that this movie would change my attitude very much. I always cared about the environment, recycled diligently, etc.. But strangely enough, it did!
It made me VERY concerned about CLIMATE CHANGE (and that is an understatement!). Al Gore(on Larry King)said that Climate change is the better, more accurate term(rather than Global Warming).
You must see the movie before making any judgement upon it.
This is a movie that will stick with you.
It is always in the back of my mind, now. I'm so conscious of the climate crisis now, that I'm even driving the speed limit to get better gas mileage! That's amazing for me!
Also agree with Cave76: Not much use worrying about wars, oil, taxes, immigration or party affiliations if the planet is dying. My sentiments exactly !!!
