I never would have thought that I would be happy to be diagnosed positive for Lyme Disease! But after six long years of tests upon tests for every malady known to man, and all coming in negative, I am relieved to have finally received my Western Blot lab tests today with a finding of Positive on the IgG, and including a few bands on the IgM (although insufficient to be deemed a positive result).
It is such a relief to finally know what I've got! Now I can move on to determining an appropriate therapy.
I have had many symptoms of Lyme disease for the past dozen years, beginning with meningitis. More recently I have developed many more symptoms, but never - not once in all the years - did anyone mention Lyme. Not until my daughter was diagnosed with Lyme early this year was the subject ever discussed. My daughter said the symptoms I was experiencing could be Lyme and I should be tested.
I found a doctor willing to facilitate my ordering up Western Blots through his office where the blood was drawn and sent out to IgeneX labs on the West Coast. The test results came back negative, but there were enough bands shown to compel a recommendation that I request a second test in a few weeks, which I did. The results came back positive today.
Now on to finding an LLMD who will consult with me about treatment!

Same thing happened to me. I was misdiagnosed for at least 42 yrs. Now I'm doing great!!

I hope you find a good LLMD! If you need names, go to Seeking a Doctor here on lymenet.

Thanks for the well wishes and greetings.
The numbers on my Western Dot test results were as follows:

IgM - 30+, 31+++, 41 IND, and 66+
(This test was characterized as NEGATIVE)

IgG - 30+, 31 IND, 34+, 39+, 41+++, 58+, and 66++
(This test was deemed POSITIVE)

All urine samples were NEGATIVE

Today I attended a Lyme support group meeting and was very encouraged by all the warm and helpful members there. I needed that as an emotional "fix."
This week I am going to show the test results to the VA Med Center doctor to see if they will provide some treatment at this time. Of course, the appointment they set will probably be for a date a month or two down the line. In the interim, I have the names of several local LLMDs who may help.
Thanks for all your kindnesses.
Sincerely,
Wally Dickson
