Yesterday, I received a job offer for fulltime work. And after quite a bit of thought, I accepted the position today.
Rather than a managerial post, I opted to just be a regular old employee...it was a quality of life, stress-management decision. I honestly don't want any complications, but the idea of going in and doing my job sounds really good to me right now.
I also like the thought of paid medical insurance and vacations.
I haven't worked a full schedule in aobut 4 years.
I'm pretty excited and a little nervous, too. While I'm not yet at 100% recovery, I'm so glad to be at this place, where I can start to rebuild my life again.
And I have everyone on Lymenet to thank for helping me with that. You guys are the best!

You know how much your congrats means, Julie, and you're right: the biggest victory here isn't about the job at all, it's about just being well enough to say yes.
trails...trails, I haven't seen your posts in awhile; how are you feeling? I know this whole thing is going to be tiring, though my acupuncturist tells me our bodies will often rise to a situation. I guess I'm hoping that will be the case.
In any event, I'm still going to be checking in here.
awwww, Tincup...I'll take your spirit with me. I really hope this is the right decision, but I tried to weigh it all pretty carefully. That whole thought of relapse looms over me, but I can't live my life based on that fear.
I've told my boss I've been sick with Lyme, so she knows and still wanted to offer me the job. I'll always be grateful for that faith.
As I said, I was given the choice for management and opted to go in a different direction. I want to do this, but I want to do it in as smart a way as I can. The commute is nominal -- only about 15 minutes with pretty light traffic. The environment is pretty casual. I'll have a lot of responsibilities but not nearly as much as in mgmt.
For me, all that quality of life stuff is now more important than ever.
I've only had a nominal income for the past 18 months, and I've decimated retirement and savings to fund all the treatment. I really look forward to starting to build things back again.
It just feels like another step in this whole nightmare that's been Lyme. This time, it's a step in the right direction.
What I'm really hoping for is a day I'm well enough and in a place where I can turn my skills toward writing about this disease.
That will be a huge victory day!

I don't think you could pay me enough to be a manager. I see the stress my boss has, and how much he has aged.
Quality of life is what it is all about. If I haven't learned anything, I've learned that.
Remember to take care of yourself first. The rest will fall into place.

Betty, I'm going to be a corporate writer. In some guise or another, I've only ever been a writer. As for this in the success stories, I'm superstitious.
I consider this progress a LOT of success, but I've definitely still got a way to go.
Magic, keep me posted about your progress. I finally decided I couldn't live with the anxiety about the future and just figured I'd take the plunge.
By the way, Magic, I LOVE your squirrel.
Yesh, my thoughts about management are exactly the same as yours. For me, just showing up every day is challenge enough, without adding personnel and financial things on top of that.
Stella, as Lymeinhell said earlier in this post, it can and often does get better than it is at the start of treatment.
Sometimes, I'd get discouraged, but I never lost my faith that was possible.

Hats, thanks for the comment regarding stress. I do think I've made the right decision, but I've heard people tell me I was crazy to do it. It's nice to have the reinforcement.
I couldn't agree more, Chronic, that we Lymies are a special lot. I hate the diseases but love the people I've met here.
Hopeful, I've shared enough pain on this board; it's such a nice change to share some good news!
DLL, thanks for the congrats.
I think it's the same job I told you about, too. They just firmed up the offer and qualified the terms. I'm nervous about 5 days a week, but hopefully, I can make it work.
My health continues to be my top priority here....
