today I went to see the endocrinologist to deal with the thyroid stuff going on. I was a "good little patient" and brought in all of my labs.
When I explained to her that I have Lyme disease I was sure I saw that "yeah, right" look in her eyes. Lately, doctor's appointments feel like the inquisition!
I really think she may have believed me, it's just that I have grown accustomed to the questions around the testing and all of that. You know, things like,well it isn't really positive if it shows indeterminate.
My results show indeterminate on all of the starred bands. Maybe it is because I keep doubting myself. I am almost jealous of people who have a definitive diagnosis (embarrassing to admit). I think I am just tired of the long explanations I feel compelled to give people to explain why I am STILL not fixed!
Maybe I start to not trust myself but who in the world would make something like this up??? Just venting--- I am so tired of going to doctors. I am supposed to have two appts. next week. I feel like I need to take a break for a little while.

Yeah, it is frustrating when people, esp. dr's don't "believe".
Did the endocrinologist help you with the thyroid problem?

Yes, thanks for asking. She was very helpful and is going to work slowly with me, starting with armour thyroid, see how it goes with that because of my sensitivity to synthroid and she may also start me on cortef for the adrenals.

I take lexoyl for thyroid and it is a big help for my energy and mood. I am taking half the dose that I started with 4yrs ago- Apparantly, as my body heals the thyroid issue is improving. Not that I mind taking it....

I hope your endocrinologist is very savvy about cortef in your situation.
In my experience a low dose works really well (20-35 mg. daily) I take less when life is easier, and have to take more if I catch a cold, have do something stressful, or am herxing bad.
It boosts my immune system and gives me energy. Too high and I feel anxious, and can't sleep.
I also understand that too high a dose of cortef will depress the immune system...which might be considered a bad thing!
Sorry you have had to endure so many appointments and so many doubtful or disapproving looks from those who are supposed to be supporting your well-being. You deserve better. Hang in there.
