We were in a hotel yesterday and my daughter was watching the history channel. It was a story about the Bubonic Plague. She was interested because she just studied it in school, so we were watching and talking about it.

Towards the end, they mentioned that it could happen again. Some people still get the Bubonic Plague, but if it's recognized, they can take antibiotics for it.

The talked about the possibility of other microbes developing and causing problems for many people, then told about the modern ones we know about -- AIDS, avian flu, and Lyme Disease!

I was thinking that Lyme was one of them and should be included, I was just surprised that it was.

I too saw the show and was also amazed that Lyme was mentioned twice at the end of the program.

Maybe folks are waking up to the crisis.
