I just recieved my medical records from Dr. B and it cost $250.00.
This disease just keeps getting more and more expensive.

I think we are all broke from this disase,,,some know it now,,,some wake up one morning and find out the HARD way!! Its all a matter of time,,diminished capacity, diminished resources,,,we ALL get there.

I am sorry savebabe. Why was it so expensive
(If it was the dr B that stopped seeing patients you would think he would wave the fee cuz it is not like you had a choice)
Just don is right though.. unfortunately you are in the majority with this disease.
At this point I wish money was the only thing it took from me.

For anybody looking to obtain there records from Dr.B, just remember they are .75 cents per copy.
Also tax and shipping are not included.

savebabe,
this is OUTRAGIOUS! $250!!!
i paid a lump sum of $20 to my clinic for 20 yearws of records for my 1st SSDI, disability, claim i filed.
i personally would be tempted to contact your state insurance commissioner to look into this other entity having dr. b's records and charging ridiculous prices!
i know that is what i would honestly do! this won't be popular with a lot of you, but we have to look out for ourselves. Posted by Bruceallan (Member # 9317) on :
I agree with you Bettyg, I had a simular event happen just a few weeks ago, (I dont know if I handled it right but this is what I did)
I was outraged, I was talking on the phone when I was informed that there would be a fee, I explainded that I had never been charged for getting copies of my records
and that if I came in to the office in person to get my records that I would make such a scene that they will wish they would have sent them to me, the lady got her manager who said they had to charge,
I reminded her that I am unable to work and on medicare, and started getting hot with her and gave her the same threat, she calmed me down and said let me talk to your docter, end result I got my records Free.

Well everyone, this one really took the cake...and the rest of my money for treatment.
My LLMD gave me my disability letter for SSDI Last week. Charged me $1024!!!!!
Can you believe anything so outrageous?!!!!
When I complained to the office manager that I didn't realize my LLMD was getting paid $400 per hour to write this letter....she couldn't understand how it was missed.
I realize people and clinics need to make a living but come on...talk about being taking advantaged of and a major trust issue broken.
Very frustrating.... but at least if I don't have money for treatment this month I still have hope.
God seems to hang with me with this disease..even when I can't see Him through the haze.

I know the office manager for Dr. B. I use to work for her.
She is ferocious about these fees and will put up a fight for payment of those records.
Or she WILL NOT give them to you.
And there is a law in place now that offices can charge for your records.
She is kinda like your epitome of the office manager from hell so be prepared for a fight.
Together we can when the ever increasing paper war!!!

cathy, that's one i definately would involve your state insurance commissioner in! HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Posted by WildCondor (Member # 434) on :
I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Dr. B clearly stated in his letter that if you could not afford the copy fee to let them know. Do you have any idea how expensive it would be to send copies of all records to everyone for free? You know all hospitals and doctors offices are charging .75 to $2.00 per page now for records. You should have kept copies of all your tests as you went along. I have never had a more kind, loving staff, and office manager take care of me in all my life. I miss them all. Don't bite the hands that feed you, or may have helped save your life. Where is the gratitude?

If I could just make a recommendation which is that every time you finish an appt get copies of everything (blood tests, etc) before you leave the office. I have a huge pile of stuff at home but it could save you from a hassle down the road!
That said, the price paid for a photo-copy seems pretty high! I know at work I can just throw a stack of papers onto the coppier and in about 20 seconds it can copy a heck of a lot of pages.
Is it possible just to get the reports directly from the source instead? For example, if you use quest for your labwork could you just call Quest and have them send you copies of your bloodwork (same thing for any MRIs or other tests done).

OMG!!! I have NEVER heard of such a thing!!! And even if it is $400 and hour (CRAZY), it should not take 3 hours to fill out!
I get copies every time I go to the doctors now. Yes, I have boxes and drawers filled with medical records and receipts... pretty sad! (but less of a headache later on)
