I KNOW this is quite a strange request,never seen this here before,,,I found A Federal JOB,,I 'may' be qualified for,,,and would LOVE to have each and every day!!!
Not going to mention ALL the details here,right now,,,as my MAIN problem is I used to know how to do resume's long time ago. BUT are they about the same NOW???
Any experts out there on THIS topic??? (seems we have experts of EVERY kind here,)so I NEED 'help',,,ALOT of help,,in getting this accomplished. Time frame is VERY short!!!
At LEAST I want to give it my BEST shot!! My other problem is my spelling is poor,,,since being sick,,,previously it was MUCH better,,,guess I will have to make friends with the old spell checker??
ANY EXPERTS OUT THERE??? IF 'no' experts I will take a mid range wannabe expert!! I am completely LOST,,,havent done this for far too long!! ANYBODY??? I "NEED" YOU!!!being--just don--

If it's a federal job, the content is what is most important. Human resources usually uses formulas to find the 3 people most qualified for the job, and then the agency gets to interview those three people.
Spelling is very important, so I would have somebody read it over before sending it in.

BTW, a lot of computer programs have a Resume Wizard in them.
Includes examples of many different styles, etc.
You may have it on your computer.

My personal preference is to send a resume with just a cell phone number. Especially with Craig's List/e-mail job offers as people are very creative at stealing identities. When you go to the actual interview you can give them another resume with your address and home number.
I too want to jump on the bandwagon and wish you luck. Hopefully some of the previous advice will get you with a big step in that front door. Please let us know how it goes.
I know this has to be such a big step for you after being down and out for so very long. Could also be a little scarey but I know you have what it takes and I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep us posted.

Research KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities). It may help to include along with your resume.
Make sure your KSA and Resume repeat key words in the job listing.
For example, If you were applying for an IT job the listing would most likely include phrases like:
-Desktop Support -Microsoft products, commercial software and proprietary programs -Areas of expertise include: workstations (laptops and desktops), servers and networks, hardware and software, BIOS, operating system, server tools, administrative tools and application software, and IT security
Copy them word for word so that their search feature doesn't pass over you.

hi don,
in general there are two different kinds of resumes. one is chronological and lists every job by date and then what were the duties in that job. the second one is a functional resume which lists the types of skills, like computer skills, organizational skills, teaching, etc., etc. this one is preferred by those of us with choppy work records.
on either you would put what your goals are, your educational background, and something like "interests."

What is the job desciption? Office or out in the field? direct services or papershuffle?
Don't wear overalls to the interview. And be sure you have all your teeth in.

They've got a nice little section on resumes and cover letters that's explained nice and basic!
Also, I don't think resumes have changed a whole lot, and they probably will be more concerned with the content than anything else.
