A few years ago, I started being able to walk a few minutes each day. But, then I was no longer able to continue.

In the past this pattern has appeared and disappeared.

Well, I have been able to walk again lately. I will do some research and see when it started and how often I have been able to continue with it this time.

But, I was out today on the trail once again.

It is a 10 min drive to the trail head.

Then, I walk 10 min in and 10 min back.

Today, I was moving slower so it took me 15 min in.

I was kind of in lala land half way to the turn around point today.

But, it was much easier on the way back as the trail slighly declines on the way back.

It also was difficult getting my legs in the car at the end of the trail.

The sun would go behind the clouds at times and it would feel very much like autumn. I enjoyed hearing the wind in the pinion pines.

Dehydration was a problem too this time.

I also am walking from my apartment to the car. The first 5 months I lived here I took the power chair down the hall and parked it and got in my car.

All in all, it feels very good.

Any other hikers out there?

Hi,well you ,make me feel like I am lucky.

I ride my mnt. bike every weekend,it is what i do when the canoe liverys close for the year.

I ride it to the steepest climbs then walk it up to the top.All the time ready to hop on in case someone else rides up.

I can hop on and fake like I am riding it up hill.

Then I coast back down all the while acting like I am doing it.

Not to mention the interstitial cystitus frequent stops.

I can hardly work the next 3 days.

Soon the snow will be on and i will be hiking.

MD,

Funny you should mention mountain biking. I was just thinking about my mountain bike and wondering if I could ride it on the trail.

It has been at least 7 years since I have gotten on it.

I know the tires must be flat.

But, I bet I could ride it for 10 min in and 10 min out. Perhaps longer.

When I first came down sick I went to PT and found moving the legs on the stationary bikes worked for me.

It was much easier than the movement that is involved with walking.

But, my arms would be too weak to support my body when I tried riding the bike.

Tutu,

going over to off topic now.

wow---now that is progress! congrats! hope you are doing tick checks afterwards.

I no longer hike, sometimes, cant walk, used to mountain bike, now i walk on pavement and very wide paths when i can walk at all. i walk in my mind a lot---it's safer in there no matter what others tell me. [Big Grin]

my friend timaca is a hiker too---she misses the trails often!!
yer internet hiking friend,
trails

ps---I now prefer surfing because at least when you get bit by a shark you KNOW it and the docs can NOT deny it! [Big Grin]

Hi trails! No tick checks here. I walk on asphalt. Real exciting!

trails...lol....yep the bite from a shark can't be missed or denied.

my need to be out on the trail is bigger than my fear of ticks.

besides i think i was bitten at work in a classroom at least the last time. hopefully, it is the last time.

the area is pretty clear where i walk.

went again last night but only because rosie kept looking at me as if to say "I'm ready...are you ready?"

It was about the 3rd time of this taht i decided i would give it a try.

it was tough going last night. i turned around after 10 min. it seemed forever to get to the 10 min mark and i did not cover as much ground as usual either.

it seemed like it took a long time to get back too.

so strange how this condition is.
