Try wearing sunglasses when you're on line.
Might sound silly, but they really help to cut the glare.
It might also help if you have another low-level light in the room.

welcome writer, AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!
I've had light photophobia for 38 years; you're talking to a pro here!
1st; I've adjusted my BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST down to ZERO on my new gateway monitor.
on my other monitor, it was around 30% on both....whatever felt good to my eyes.
yes, SUNGLASSES work great.
i'm sending you now my lengthy newbie package; copy it to MS WORD, and do a search using EDIT, VIEW, and type in NOIR
you'll come across lots of detailed info from me on what I ordered and why and cheap prices! THEY ARE MY LIFESAVER! NEVER OUTSIDE WITHOUT THEM, and times still use them when my eyes are extra sensitive.
just make sure contrast/brightness are at the losest for you until you get these sunglasses!
